Our White Cane Sugars enjoy a reputation for versatility, consistency and purity. They are used across a wide range of foods, drinks and even pharmaceuticals. All are produced to a tight white colour specification, with the exception of Industrial Granulated Cane Sugar which is a slightly creamier colour.
Our Extra Fine Granulated and Caster Cane Sugars are commonly used in baking to produce fine, close textured products, while our larger sized granulated sugars work well for a large range of uses including jams and soft drinks. Our milled sugars are finer still and are described as powders in many markets. Fondant Icing Sugar is suitable for soft, mouldable confectionery as well as being used as a topping for buns and pastries. Powdered Sugar is used in tablet making, sugar confectionery and as a decorative dusting on baked goods.

Our Liquid Cane Sugars are widely used in the manufacture of soft drinks, ice cream, dairy products, baking, confectionery, fermentation, preserves and sauces. Our Liquid Cane Sugars can be made by either re-dissolving white sugar or by using a pure sugar syrup that does not need to go through the crystallisation process. The result? Exceptionally pure products, made with less waste. A range of liquid sugars unique to the cane refining process. Versatile, easy to store, easy to handle and meter, perfect for bulk sugar users. Our Liquid Cane Sugars are available as both ‘water white’ and subtle ‘straw’ tones, without the use of any additional colouring.

Our Brown Cane Sugars bring richness, texture, colour and flavour. They are used widely, particularly in cooking and baking. Only sugar cane produces brown sugars and our expertise as the world’s largest cane sugar refiner shows in the quality of our products. Our Brown Cane Sugars offer hues of maple, chocolate, and velvety brown. Each has its own flavour and texture. Our Soft Cane Sugars are moist with fine, quick-dissolving crystals. Our Demerara and Golden Cane Sugars have large glassy amber crystals providing a distinctive textural crunch. All have their own distinctive flavour.

Inverts & Syrups
Our range of Inverts and Syrups stand out because of their sheer flexibility. We help create some of the world’s favourite ice creams, puddings, and beverages.We have perfected the process of turning sucrose into fructose and glucose - creating Inverts with reduced water activity, and a balanced sugar spectrum. Because our Inverts are less likely to crystallise, their uses are numerous and are effective in extending shelf life in finished products.
Colours range from ‘water white’ through rich golden to the deepest black. In suspension medicines or in desserts, our Inverts prolong shelf life, regulate viscosity, and give exact control of flavour. In other words: they allow our customers to create precisely tailored products.
Golden Cane Invert 50-83 is also more famously known as Lyle’s Golden Syrup, a popular retail product. Lyle’s Golden Syrup is made using our unique process at our historic Plaistow site in London, unchanged for over 100 years.

Our Treacles and Molasses are the secret ingredient in many best-selling foods and beverages - and the finishing touch to countless breakfasts, savouries and desserts.Each of our Treacles and Molasses has its own colour and cane flavour intensity - making it simple to find the perfect ingredient for products like confectionery and baked goods. They are dark, deep and thick syrups that can only come from sugar cane.
Our Molasses is food-grade refined molasses. However, its composition is dependent on the source of raw sugar being refined, so we use it as a base and blend in sugar syrups and then control the brix to achieve a range of treacle products of consistent quality. It is a delicate process, one we have perfected over many decades.
We also introduce our free flowing, naturally flavoured Qwik-Flo sugars, which are explained more fully on the opposite page.

Interested in free flowing and naturally flavoured sugars? We can help. Introducing Qwik-Flo.We blend our sugars with natural ingredients like honey, in a process called ‘co-crystallisation’. Unlike many ‘flavoured’ sugars, the co-crystallisation technology allows us to combine the ingredients into single free flowing granules or powder, that prevent re-separation, and locks in the natural flavours.
Co-crystallisation is uniquely adaptable, allowing us the ability to introduce new flavours quickly and effectively. We already have a range including natural honey, molasses and brown sugar. In our global innovation centre we have the capability to develop new flavours to suit our customers’ needs, producing great-tasting sugars either as free-flowing granules or powder.
Qwik-Flo is produced by Domino Sugars, our US sister company in the ASR Group.

Our Wet and Dry Fondants always deliver consistently fine and smooth results in baking and confectionery. Wet Fondants are available as semi-solid ‘blocks’ for professional bakeries and manufacturers. Available in sizes from 15kg upwards, Block Fondants are produced in a range of consistencies from slightly soft and yielding to firm. All are pure white and have a smoothness of texture, ensuring high quality results in finished products. Fondants are commonly used as soft fillings and toppings in confectionery or baked goods. Our Fondant Sugar is finely milled and has the appearance of a pure white powder in its dry form. As with all our white sugars, our Fondant Sugar has a reputation for purity and consistency.

We are one of the world’s largest contributors to the Fairtrade movement.
We support 20,000 cane farmers in 14 producer groups in 4 countries. Their families and wider communities benefit from this investment with funds invested directly into improving farming techniques, infrastructure and other local initiatives.
The Fairtrade mark is recognised by over half of consumers worldwide, and by over 80% of consumers
in markets such as UK and Germany. Recognition is increasing, driven by an interest from consumers in the integrity of the food that they buy. The Fairtrade mark helps our customers demonstrate the care applied to choosing the ingredients for their products, and their own commitment to the integrity of their supply chain.
Organic sugars are of increasing interest among some consumers. ASR Group sources Organic Evaporated Cane Juice (which resembles a Golden Granulated sugar) and Organic Demerara from trusted growers in Central and South America. Sugar produced from these organic growers is certified organic - giving total customer and consumer confidence.

On top of our range of cane sugars and syrups we also produce a range of specialist sweetening options for our customers.
Wet Fondants Our fine icing sugar mixed with glucose and delivered as a soft paste. Our ready-made Wet Fondant produces excellent soft and glossy icing, and is beneficial in the efficient production of baked goods and desserts.
High Intensity Sweeteners Which are available as reduced calorie blends. We can supply blends of cane sugar and Stevia, a naturally sourced sweetener extracted from the Stevia leaf, delivering equivalent sweetness with only half the calories, and without the need for artificial sweeteners.
Malted Barley Is a flavourful natural sweetener that is steeped, germinated, and extracted from the whole barley grain. Our Liquid and Dry malts are available in a number of different flavour and colour grades from 100% pure extract to blended concentrates.
Agave Nectar Is an all-natural blend of fructose and sucrose - sweeter than pure sugar, and less viscous than honey. Thanks to its neutral flavour, vegan status, and ability to dissolve rapidly, agave offers new ways to flavour, produce, and present food products.
Di-Pac®
Direct Compacting & Tableting Sugar is a unique dry fondant sugar manufactured by a patented technique solely for use in the pharmaceutical industry. Di-Pac®
is produced by Domino Sugars, our US sister company in the ASR Group.
Other Speciality Products
Our sugar is produced from Sugar Cane, which has key advantages over Sugar Beet. Cane sugar is the preferred choice globally, accounting for 80% of total sugar produced.
The high quality of sugar produced, and the ability to create wide ranges of brown sugars and syrups that can only come from sugar cane, make it the obvious and preferred choice. Only European markets are primarily served with Sugar Beet, which lacks the versatility and cannot produce the same range of ingredients.
InnovationOur dedicated global innovation centre, based in Florida next to 200,000 acres of sugar cane plantation, develops solutions to support our manufacturing and retail customers. We monitor global trends, developing new packaged and industrial solutions. We work with our manufacturing customers to understand how our innovations can support their businesses, whether a process efficiency, cost saving or improvement in product delivery.
SustainabilityAs one of the world’s leading supporters of Fairtrade, we care about the communities in which we operate. On top of our support for over 20,000 farmers, we also source and audit against the widely respected ProTerra standard and have an established framework for Corporate Social Responsibility. Environmentally, we know that our carbon footprint is significantly lower than that of our beet sugar competitors. We have reduced our carbon footprint since 2007 on our Tate & Lyle 1Kg Granulated retail packs. This has been delivered reducing our use of energy and achieving waste savings. In 2012 ourThames Refinery in the UK recycled 99% of all waste.
Supply ChainWe are supply chain experts, with a robust system from growing, sourcing, refining and logistics. Our global scale, with capability to source and refine 6 million tons of raw sugar annually, gives us considerable flexibility, efficiency and resilience. Our Tate & Lyle Process Technology team travel the globe, working with growers directly to help them improve their yields. On top of the sugar we source from the global market, ASR Group also owns considerable plantation interests in the US and Central America.
