Deck the halls with boughs of hollyFa la la la la, la la la la

Tis the season to be jollyFa la la la la, la la la la

Don we now our gay apparelFa la la, la la la, la la la

Troll the ancient Yuletide carolFa la la la la, la la la la

See the blazing Yule before usStrike the harp and join the chorus

Follow me in merry measureWhile I tell of Yuletide treasure

Fast away the old year passesFa la la la la, la la la la

Hail the new, ye lads and lassesFa la la la la, la la la la

Sing we joyous, all togetherFa la la la la, la la la la

Heedless of the wind and weatherFa la la la la, la la la laFa la la la la, la la la la

Deck The HallsDashing through the snowIn a one horse open sleigh

O’er the fields we goLaughing all the wayBells on bob tails ringMaking spirits bright

What fun it is to laugh and singA sleighing song tonight

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bellsJingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to rideIn a one horse open sleigh

Jingle bells, jingle bellsJingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to rideIn a one horse open sleigh

A day or two agoI thought I’d take a ride

And soon Miss Fanny BrightWas seated by my side

The horse was lean and lankMisfortune seemed his lotWe got into a drifted bank

And then we got upsot

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bellsJingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to rideIn a one horse open sleigh

Jingle bells, jingle bellsJingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to rideIn a one horse open sleigh yeah

Jingle bells, jingle bellsJingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to rideIn a one horse open sleigh

Jingle bells, jingle bellsJingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to rideIn a one horse open sleigh

Little Town of BethlehemO little town of BethlehemHow still we see thee lie

Above thy deep and dreamless sleepThe silent stars go by

Yet in thy dark streets shinethThe everlasting Light

The hopes and fears of all the yearsAre met in thee tonight

For Christ is born of MaryAnd gathered all above

While mortals sleep, the angels keepTheir watch of wondering love

O morning stars togetherProclaim the holy birth

And praises sing to God the KingAnd Peace to men on earth

How silently, how silentlyThe wondrous gift is given!

So God imparts to human heartsThe blessings of His heaven. No ear may hear His coming,

But in this world of sin,Where meek souls will receive him still,

The dear Christ enters in.

O holy Child of BethlehemDescend to us, we pray

Cast out our sin and enter inBe born to us today

We hear the Christmas angelsThe great glad tidings tell

O come to us, abide with us

Our Lord Emmanuel

Mistletoe and HollyMistletoe was used many years before Common Era. It was used by the Druids to decorate their homes in celebration that winter was approaching. The early church banned the use of mistletoe, because

of its pagan origins. It was suggested for them to use holly instead.

The Christmas SongChestnuts roasting on an open fire

Jack Frost nipping at your noseYuletide carols being sung by a choir

And folks dressed up like EskimosEverybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe

Help to make the season brightTiny tots with their eyes all aglowWill find it hard to sleep tonight

They know that Santa’s on his wayHe’s loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh

And every mother’s child is gonna spyTo see if reindeer really know how to fly

So I’m offering this simple phraseTo kids from one to ninety-two

Although it’s been said many times, many waysMerry Christmas to you

Merry Christmas from the Fernie Ghostriders!

Here Comes Santa ClausHere comes Santa Claus,Here comes Santa Claus,

Right down Santa Claus Lane,Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer

Pullin’ on the reins.Bells are ringin’, children singin’,

All is merry and bright. So hang your stockings and say your prayers,

‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.

Here comes Santa Claus,Here comes Santa Claus,

Right down Santa Claus Lane,He’s got a bag that’s filled with toys

For boys and girls again.Hear those sleigh bells jingle jangle,

Oh what a beautiful sight,So jump in bed, and cover your head,‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.

Here comes Santa Claus,Here comes Santa Claus,

Right down Santa Claus Lane,He’ll come around when chimes ring out,

It’s Christmas time again.Peace on earth will come to all,

If we just follow the light,So let’s give thanks to the Lord above

‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.

Christmas treeAccording to legend there was a monk in the 7th century who traveled around Germany to teach the word of God. To represent the Father, Son and Holy Spirit he used the triangular shape of a fir tree. Those who converted took to hanging the triangles around their homes as a symbol of Christianity.

The first decorated tree is said to have been by Martin Luther with candles in Riga, Latvia in 1510; to show his children how the stars twinkle at night.

Santa ClausThe original Santa Claus was born in Turkey during the 4th century, and was known as St. Nicholas. He devoted his life to Christianity, but was imprisoned by Romans. When Constantine became emperor he released him. The legend of St. Nicholas began in the 16th century when Dutch children placed their wooden shoes out, hoping “Sint Nikolass” would fill them with treats. The name “Sint Nikolass” was later shortened to

“Sinterklaas”, and then to Santa Claus in English.
