Tuesday, November 13 CAPPELLA ARTEMISIA Cappella Artemisia is an ensemble of voices and instruments which attempts to provide some answers to an intriguing mystery. Throughout the late 16th and 17th centuries, the chronicles of historians and travelers in Italy provide images of a fabulous musical world inhabited by women--singers, players and even composers. This world was contained within the walls of the convents, and these women were cloistered nuns.

Tuesday, January 29 LUIS MARIO OCHOA One of the world’s most exciting Cuban music ensembles, the Luis Mario Ochoa Cuban Quintet is renowned for virtuosity, and incredible musicianship. This acoustic group features music ranging from rumba to samba, bolero to waltz, son to cha and features Toronto’s leading jazz and world musicians. Nominee of the 2007 Canadian Latin Jazz Artist of the Year Award, guitarist and lead vocalist Luis Mario Ochoa leads this ensemble noted by press for their “fire, finesse and authenticity”

Tuesday, February 12 LOUISE PITRE - Broadway She has appeared at Carnegie Hall, been nominated for a Tony Award for her debut role in Mamma Mia!, and won more awards than you can shake a baton at. Host of Bravo’s Star Portraits, Louise Pitre will light up the stage as she takes you on a journey through the hit musicals that have made her a star.

Tuesday, March 5 THE CELTIC TENORS The Celtic Tenors have established themselves as the most successful classical crossover artists ever to emerge from Ireland. In 2000, the Celtic Tenors were signed on the spot to an international record deal, a highly unusual event that was the talk of the music industry. With a total album sales world-wide of over one million, and a full international touring schedule, the Celtic Tenors have topped the charts in the USA, Canada, Germany, the UK and Ireland.

Tuesday, April 9 CORAZON - The Return! Corazón is a 65-voice youth choir based in Nelson. Over the past 10 years the group has gained a reputation throughout western Canada for its vibrant presence, professional presentation, surprising repertoire, and great voices.

BEAVER VALLEY SKATING CLUB

More information is available at www.beavervalleyskating.ca

Fall Session: Oct 1 to Dec 21, 2012 Winter Session: Jan 7 to Mar 15, 2013 Pre-CANSkate This is a new program designed to teach children aged 3 years and up who are just learning to skate. Using circuits, teaching aids and a variety of activities, the coaches provide a fun environment for learning solid skating skills.

Two sessions are scheduled on Monday afternoons.

Session 1: 2:45 to 3:15pm, is for skaters not wearing hockey gear. Session 2: 3:15 to 3:45pm, it is recommended that skaters wear

hockey gear, as they will be introduced to basic hockey skills.

All skaters are required to wear a CSA-certified hockey helmet while on the ice. CANSkate This program focuses on fun, participation and basic skills development. Skaters progress through six stages of fundamental skills, with additional levels for those skaters wishing to move into figure skating. Participants earn badges and other incentives as they learn. Skaters progress at their own pace. Coaches use music, circuits and a variety of activities to create a fun environment to promote learning. CanSkate Level 1-4 Monday and Friday, 3:45 to 4:45pm Skaters are required to wear a CSA-certified hockey helmet

CANSKATE PRE-JUNIOR ACADEMY (Canskate stages 4 - 7) This program bridges between the Canskate and Starskate program. It is not necessary to complete all your Canskate badges to register. Group lessons provide the next level of basic skills, dance, spins, jumps and turns. Pre-Juniors also have the option of purchasing extra ice as a ‘BLENDED SKATER’ which is an introduction into the Star Skate program and the opportunity to have your own solo music. STARKATE PROGRAM: Star Skate program is for those skaters who are able to perform a clean lutz and flip jump as well as execute a back spin! This program is for those who choose to compete and/or take Skate Canada tests. Star Skaters must skate a minimum of (1) early morning, as afternoon space is limited! ICE BREAKERS Fridays: 4:45 - 5:45 pm Adults: whether you come to socialize, be challenged or exercise, our learn to skate adult program is a great way to experience the pleasure & excitement of skating with adults of all ages. CONCESSION Work is now OPTIONAL: For several years, the Beaver Valley Skating Club parents have been working in the arena concessions to raise money to offset the cost of the skating programs. Our club has again been contracted to provide workers for the concession. Parents can now decide how many, if any, hours they wish to work in the concessions. If you commit to working any specified number of hours the registration fee will be reduced at the time of registration.
