OF THE THINGS WE THINK, SAY OR DO
MICHAEL SLENTZ ..... started the meeting with a moment of silence for the people of India and Iran who are struggling with trying to survive a huge surge of the deadly Covid 19 infections. He told us the initial Covid lock down in March 2020
happened on his birthday so he will never forget it! During this last year and a half his daughter became old enough to drive and he hasn’t seen her or his car since! 😁He is also in the midst of completing his Master Program!!!
ERIC FREEBERG... oversaw a unanimous
member vote to install TONY GRILLO and SHARON COUNCIL as new directors of the club .
LORI BENDE..... (AKA Fine Master ) fined STEVE BROWN and FARI MOINI for not not getting the name of our club into the news article they were quoted in pertaining to the Taliban and ISIS surge in Afghanistan and the effect it may have on the school for girls that Steve and Fari and our club created in that struggling region! (We are holding our breath about this issue). TONY GRILLO gave “Happy Dollars”for his team’s sweep of a car race winning almost every award
possible out of 70 entries!!!! BRETT MOREY gave” Happy Dollars” for managing not to get fired from his current job for 10years! Way to go Brett!
MARTY ROSENSTEIN.... introduced the Pruess Student of the Month Diego Lopez Ching who has overcome some difficult issues in his life by making his way to college next year on a soccer scholarship! He has honored his father by becoming a good student with a 4.0 average and helping his family. All the while, he has been teaching young children the joys of soccer and holding down an after school

Guest Speaker...............Ernie Hahn from Club 33 and part of the ‘Hahn real estate development family”. Ernie told of his involvement with

In 20202 he created Dream Hahn a promotion company involved in the “Wonderfront Festival “taking place for 3 days on the San Diego waterfront with music food and benefiting several charities. His current venture is the “Wonderbus “
We saw a video of the crazy fun double decker bus with live music traveling up and down the coast which can be rented for private parties and events. But a passion of his is being involved with an organization called “Boys to Men” ,a boys mentoring organization that
BRETT is also involved with.
RICK CLARK.................Wished a” Happy Mother’s Day” only to those who were a Mother or those that had or have a mother!

MAY 202121..........................Niki Brown
Let’s see? Where do I start? OK at the beginning….I was born in the
beautiful metropolis of Newark, New Jersey in the early 1950’s. Raised by two loving parents in a “Leave it to Beaver” household, Dad worked and Mom stayed home, very 50s. While I grew up in the 60’s I didn’t rebel and do the hippie stuff.
I received an AS degree in Merchan-dising on the advice of my Dad “you have to learn how to sell as people will always be buying something!” Jobs included everything from retail sales to secretarial to running drill presses in a steel factory! Many of you know me as the former owner of What’s New, a promotional company, which I sold to Custom Logos in 2019. So grateful that I sold it when I did as Covid was tough on that industry last year.
I joined the Del Mar Rotary Club in 2007 and switched to this club in February 2009 (with a little nudge from Kathleen Roche Tansey.) Joining Rotary was one of the best decisions I ever made, you all are like family to me. When people ask me about Rotary, I say that “it’s a club of like minded people doing good for others” - how can you not want to join?
THE NEXT
BIG A D V E N T U R E
Now onto the next Big Adventure… being your Rotary President! I am eager and apprehensive at the same time. Past
presidents have told me that it will be the best
year of my life - and with your support, I’ll
do my best to make it a great year for all of us!
In April, happy to be
