PUBLIC INFORMATION & PARTICIPATION FLYER PACOLET RIVER PASSAGE GATEWAY PROJECT Spartanburg County INTRODUCTION The Town of Pacolet, Spartanburg County and the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) are providing this information to inform you further about the referenced road and recreation projects that are being planned in the Town of Pacolet. The purpose of providing this information flyer is to give you up to date information and give you the opportunity to comment on the project. A comment form is attached with instructions should you wish to comment. Comments will be accepted until January 27, 2017. The information and exhibits for this project can be found on the SCDOT’s website - http://www.scdot.org/inside/public_hearings.aspx - for review. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The Pacolet River Passage Gateway Project is located on the south bank of the Pacolet River in the Town of Pacolet at the intersection of SC Route 150 and Sunny Acres Road (SC-569). The project has two components: 1. A park and recreational area long the south side of the Pacolet River on the Pacolet Mill site a. An access road and improved parking facilities b. New trails and walkways c. River overlook areas d. Swings and benches e. Historic and cultural observation areas f. Signage g. Green space and landscaping 2. Roadway and intersection improvements a. Construction of a round-about at the intersection of SC Route 150 (Montgomery Avenue) and Sunny Acres Road (S-569) b. Reconstruction of approximately 0.28 miles of Sunny Acres Road from the Pacolet River Bridge south c. Realignment of approximately 300 feet of SC Route 150 from the Pacolet River Bridge East

The proposed roadway improvement would be constructed on or near the existing alignment of Sunny Acres Road (S-596) and SC Route 150. All Design will be according to Current SCDOT Standards. Based on time of construction and disruption to the town residents and the general public, detours will be necessary during construction of the proposed roadway improvements.

Sunny Acres Road (S-596) traffic will be detoured along Victor Park Road and around SC Route 150 for a distance of approximately 1.2 miles. SC 150 traffic will be detoured along Sunny Acres road during stage 3 of the construction for approximately 0.6 miles. Maps of the detours for each stage of construction will be posted on the SCDOT website and at the Pacolet Town Hall.
