Let’s give a big shout-out to these people and wish them well on their

special day!!

If I missed anyone, PLEASE let me know and it will be added to the list.

Thank you

Half way through the year already !! Time flies when you’re having fun ! The South Carolina

Rally is behind us, many more coming up and Wing Ding is around the corner and close to

home, Knoxville is right up the road, should be a good trip and promises to be an exciting event.

The weather has been very unpredictable lately, you never really know where the rain chances

are or when Mother nature will share her rain showers with you. We’ve been caught in several

wet moments just trying to get in a ride, although hot, heat and rain on the bike is still better

than a sunny day at work !

CHAPTER DIRECTORS PAGE

How about that ! Chapter K gets the HOT LIL’SPUD from Chapter A, finally gets a chance to deliver and visit with friends from Chapter F at their

new meeting place, where we can give it a new “home”, Chapter E is chosen as recipients. Good times to be had, Chapter meeting was fun and

it was great to see everyone again. Nice new meeting place and congrats to Eugene and Renee in their new position as Chapter Directors.

These are only three examples of a Spell-A-Ride photo

WE ALL GET OUT ON OUR OWN AND GO SOMEWHERE WITH-

OUT THE GROUP, RIGHT?

WE WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE FUN YOU’RE HAVING !

Let us in on the secret! If you visit an awesome location or res-

taurant, don’t keep it to yourself, let the group know. We may

schedule a group ride or simply try it ourselves.

CHAPTER CHALLENGE

The 3rd official Spell-A-Ride Chapter Challenge has

been met !

The 4th challenge has the same rules as before, all

you have to do is spell out the latest chapter chal-

lenge word using the first letter of an official sign or

building, such as a welcome sign or a post office.

Have you and your bike or trike in the picture and you

cannot use past pictures in present or future contests

or the same letter twice in same contest.

HANDLEBAR

A sad day has fallen upon South Carolina Gold Wing family. Many of

you already heard that former South Carolina District Directors Phil and

Judy Stone were in an automobile accident coming back from Ohio.

They were in Virginia and struck by another car in a hit and run. Phil

was later laid to rest, Judy suffered injuries and was treated in a hospital

in Virginia. She is at home now and coping with her loss. Let’s be sure

to keep Judy in our prayers as she deals with her issues. He will be

missed, he was the man that got me to take on the Chapter Director role

for Chapter K. Without his guidance, there may not be a Chapter K in

Phillip Stone, you will be missed

Check Your Documents

One day you are minding your own business riding down the road when you see

flashing blue lights behind you, or you get into a fender bender, or encounter a

safety check. You pull out the paperwork and the nice officer says that the insur-

ance card and/or registration is out of date. WHAT!! I remember getting it in the

mail and sending a check!” but did you put a copy in the motorcycle?

This happened to me the other day, only without the blue lights. When checking

the paperwork in the Goldwing just because; the insurance card was expired.

WHAT!! I know it was paid. Further checking found the new card in a pile of paper-

work.

Now is a good time to check all those documents. Insurance, registration, pass-

port, medical card, driver’s license, GWRRA Levels, CPR/FA , even credit card ex-

piration dates. In these busy times it is very easy to receive documents in the mail

then forget to switch out the old ones.

Take a few minutes and check and save possible embarrassment or even a cita-

tion. Mark the calendar 4 or 6 months ahead as a reminder.

Ride Safe and Legal.

And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all the

corners of the world. Then he made the earth round……...and laughed and

laughed and laughed.

My boss, who is on vacation, phoned me today. He said “Is everything OK at the

office?” I said “It’s all under control. It’s been a very busy day. I haven’t stopped to

take a break all day.” “Can you do me a favor he asked?” I said “Of course, what

is it?” “Pick up the pace a little. I’m in the foursome behind you.”

A lot of people, especially in the past, were “home” schooled in many ways.

My mother taught me to appreciate a job well done. “If you’re going to kill each

other, do it outside, I just finished cleaning.”

My mother taught me religion. “You better pray that comes out of the carpet.”

My father taught me about time travel. “If you don’t straighten up, I’m gonna

knock you into next week.”

My father taught me logic, “Because I said so, that’s why.”

My father taught me about irony. “Keep crying and I’ll give you something to cry

about.”

My mother taught me about contortionism. “Just look at that dirt on the back of

your neck.”

My mother taught me about stamina. “You’ll sit there until all that spinach is

gone.”

My mother taught me about anticipation. “Just wait until we get home.”

My father taught me humor. “When that mower cuts off your toes, don’t come

Chapter Rides and events continued

We try to plan these rides as often as we can, weather permitting. If you have any rides,

events, things you would like to see or restaurants you would like to eat at again or maybe

just for the first time, please let me know so that we can organize them into a planned group

ride and let others share and enjoy your experiences.

I hope to incorporate more rides with visiting other chapters. I figure since we gotta eat some-

where while we’re out on the road enjoying some scenery than we might as well visit with oth-

er “GW family members” Plus, let’s not forget with the points system that District has set in

play it not only helps other chapter’s but it is beneficial to our own chapter.

If you missed any of these recent rides, don’t fret just yet, as there will be plenty more that

you can get involved in. I realize that everyone cannot make every ride planned.

We try to meet at 9:00AM for day rides and 6:30PM for dinner rides, weather permitting of

course 075916-01

Meet at the QT at I-85 and Hwy 221 for NORTH bound trips and the QT at Heron Circle for

SOUTH bound trips. This has worked well.

Airplane Ride

A little boy had to sit next to a strong muscle man on a plane. The man eventually fell asleep

and the little boy started to feel air sick. He was afraid to wake the man up and ask him if he

could slid by him to go to the rest room. He knew he couldn’t climb over him and the little boy

couldn’t get his parents attention in the other aisle. Suddenly the plane hit an air pocket and

an uncontrollable wave of nausea passed through the little boy. He got sick on the man’s

shirt. Thirty minutes later the man woke up and saw his shirt. The little boy looked at the man

and said “So, are you feeling better now?”

OH HOW SWEET

A wife started her new job in a restaurant. When she came home after her first day at work,

she gave her husband a big hug. He seemed to cling to her longer than usual. “Did you really

miss me that much today, sweetheart?” She asked. “Not really” he replied “But you smell so

much like pancakes that I hate to let you go.”

Next gathering for Chapter K is Tuesday JULY 3rd

We eat at 6:00PM and meet at 7:00PM

bership number somewhere in this newsletter. If this number is yours and you bring it to my attention any time be-

TIPS ON BUYING AND PUMPING GASOLINE

With the inflated gas prices, I thought I’d offer some tips on getting more for your money with every

gallon…….

More Cold Gas = Less Cold Cash:

Try to fill up your tank early in the morning when the ground temperature is still cool. Remember

that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground level, and the colder the

ground is the more condensed the gasoline will be. When the mercury climbs, the gasoline ex-

pands, so if you get tanked up when the temps are higher, your “gallon” isn’t exactly a gallon. In the

petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline play an important role.

Squeeze. Don’t Grab:

I hope that this sounds familiar to you when you’re referring to “applying the binders.” However,

while you're filling up, don’t try to pump as fast as possible – because if you pump at a slower speed,

you’ll minimize the vapors that are created while pumping. Pump nozzles have a vapor return, so if

you’re pumping quickly, the agitation causes some of the fuel to become vapor. Those vapors are

being sucked back up into the nozzle and the pump, so that not all of the fuel you’re paying for is go-

ing into your tank.

“Is it Half Full, or Half Empty?”:

One of the most important tips is to fill your “four or more wheelers” when your gas tank is still HALF

FULL, or at lease before it’s half empty….. Wait – What?! Anyway, the reason for this is that the

more gas you have in your tank, the less air you have in it. Since motorcycles have smaller tanks,

there isn’t as much air volume, even when the tank is nearly empty. Gasoline evaporates faster

than you can imagine. Fuel storage tanks have an internal floating roof, and this roof serves as zero

clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service sta-

tions, every truck that’s loaded with fuel is “temperature compensated” so that every gallon is actual-

ly the exact amount!

Don’t Pump at the Dump:

If there’s a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, you may want

to hold off if you can. The underground gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being pumped in,

and you might pick up some of the dirt and debris that normally settle on the bottom. Most modern,

reputable gas stations have good filters installed to separate the go-juice from the refuse. Other-

wise, think of it as your neighbor emptying his kitchen trash into your grocery bags.

Now that you’re saving bundles of bucks at the “one-armed-bandits”, you’ll have more to spend

where it really counts. Go right ahead. Add another scoop. You’re welcome.

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, whose thoughts are fixed on you.” (Isaiah 26:3
