SPACE runs various activities and programs in schools like
Centre for Student Excellence in Astronomy and Space Science, SPACE
clubs and regular astronomy based Workshops.
SPACE conducts science training for teachers in various government and
non - government institutions to introduce hands-on activities and tools to
the teachers for middle level studies. www.space-india.com
Astro-tourism is a concept designed to integrate Tourism with
Astronomy and Space Sciences Activities. SPACE organizes tours for
students to Space Camps (NASA and other Space agencies), Astronomy
Camps (outdoor camps with astronomy activities), Observatories Study
Tours (in India and Abroad), Event Based Tourism (Eclipse Chasing etc.),
Space Clubs at Resorts & Hotels, Star Parties, Workshops
(Astrophotography, telescope making etc.), Fun Science Games and

All India Asteroid Search Campaign, 2010 & 2011
P
'
ACE Group was formed in 2001, with the aim of changing the face of Science Education in India through path-breaking and innovative concepts, services and programs. The goal was to
popularise and spread Astronomy and Space Sciences amongst the Indian masses, especially children.
Sachin Bahmba, Chairman and Managing Director of SPACE Group started the pioneering effort to bring about a change in the way science and astronomy was perceived and taught.
Astronomy and science have the scope to intrigue the minds of all, regardless of age and SPACE Group is the pioneer organization taking it to its highest business potential. SPACE Group offers a wide range of products and services ranging from recreational science solutions, skill development workshops, stress management, educational, astro-tourism and other customised services for clients.
“Empowering Life with Science”.
All India Asteroid Search Campaign' urges the students to participate in
real-time experimentation. SPACE with “International Astronomical
Search Collaboration (IASC)” USA, offers students a wonderful
opportunity to search for new asteroids in the universe. IASC is a
collaboration of various international space science organsations and
observatories.
AIASC was conducted in 2010 for the first time in India where two Delhi
students created history by hunting for asteroids.
In 2011, the campaign has brought more success and applause
as students from 62 participating schools/organisations
discovered 1 rare Trojan asteroid, 4 Main Belt Asteroids, 8 NEO
Confirmations and 298 NEO Observations.
SPACE CAMPAIGNS AND PROJECTS
Live Internet Telescope
Project, 2011
Heliodyssey – A student
scientific expedition to
view solar eclipses
Project Khoj, Search for
Greenwich of India,
2004–2006
Vamana Project, 2004
SPACE brought the 'Internet
Telescope' project for the first time
in India in collaboration with IASC
(International Astronomy Search
Collaboration), USA. The students
remotely commanded a CCD
camera on the telescope situated in USA to take images of asteroids,
comets, and deep sky objects.
SPACE started 'Heliodyssey' in
2006, which provides opportunities
to the public and especially
students to travel to Total Solar
Eclipse locations around the world
and work with scientists and astronomers to participate in scientific
observations and experiments. The students, selected via
competitions get full sponsorship. Eclipse observations so far covered
by SPACE include eclipses in Turkey, Russia, Indonesia, China,
Maldives and India.
Project Khoj, a multi-phase project,
involved locating the Indian
Standard Time line near Mirzapur
(82.5E) by groups of teachers and
students from across India. Khoj has found mention in the Oxford
University Press text book “Maps, Measurements and Meanings”.
The Vamana Project involved
measuring the Earth through
observations using the Venus
transit. This was the first instance in
the field of science education in
India where 25000 students from
250 schools across 16 Indian cities
participated in a 3 stage scientific project, calculating the distance
between the Earth and the Sun with 2% accuracy.

Project Paridhi, 2011-12
International Solar Eclipse Conference
About 1.4 lac people gathered at Taregana, the hometown of Aryabhatta despite superstitions to view the Total Solar Eclipse. The Chief Minister of Bihar, Mr. Nitish Kumar attended and congratulated SPACE for this unique endeavour.
History was created when SPACE organized the 1st Indian eclipse passenger flight- “Level Four-One-Zero” in collaboration with Cox and Kings on 22nd July, 2009, that
flew over Bihar to show the total eclipse from 41000 feet above sea level!
SPACE partnered with Louis Cruises India to take about 650 passengers aboard the luxury liner Aquamarine from Kochi to Maldives and back to view the Annular Solar Eclipse
UPCOMING EVENTS
SPACE is embarking on yet another international citizen science project to measure the size of the earth with shadow measurements – “Project Paridhi – measure the earth again” on Equinoxes and Solstices
SPACE is gearing for International Solar Eclipse Conference to be held from 15-17 December, 2011. The Conference would invite a gathering of notable Eclipse Chasers, eminent scientists and astronomers.
