The thermal waters of Grotta Giusti flow out warm and pure from the hydrothermal aquifer of Montalbano, where they are enriched with precious minerals and trace elements. They are used in the very same state they are in when they bubble up from the springs, with no chemical or physical treatments.

Thanks to their anti-inflammatory and relaxing action, they are an invaluable aid for preventive healthcare and treatment. Taking a dip in the large pure thermal water pools is just one of the ways to make the most of the benefits of this gift from nature. The mature thermal mud is an excellent heat transmitter and contains precious concentrated thermal trace elements that have analgesic, relaxing and detoxing effects.

The thermal water is used for inhalation treatments, aerosols, nasal irrigation and “humage” therapy, and it cures many respiratory ailments and stimulates the immune system.

1. THE THERMAL SPA

THE THERMAL GROTTOIt is the largest thermal grotto in Europe, a natural, intact, wonderful cave that extends for more than two hundred metres underground, and it was awarded World’s Best Thermal Grotto Spa. It is divided into Heaven, Purgatory and Hell, with temperatures ranging from 28° to 34° C. In the large chambers hollowed out from the rock, the spring water gives off genuine thermal steam, and with it, all its health benefits. At the bottom of the grotto is Limbo Lake with its warm clear thermal water, at a constant temperature of 36° C. Here the body is enveloped and wholly stimulated, and the effect on respiratory, rheumatic and dermatological ailments is highly beneficial. Counter indications: children under 12 years of age, during pregnancy, breastfeeding and menstrual period. Persons who have any kind of important illness are advised to consult one of our doctors.

THERMAL YOGA IN THE THERMAL GROTTO

The body is warmer, more malleable and suppler. Breathing is easier. The mind finds it easier to concentrate. The body temperature rises, increasing its ability to heal naturally, the blood flows faster, helping the musculoskeletal and cardiocirculatory system function better, and toxins are eliminated more effectively. Heat and concentrated breathing keep the blood well oxygenated.

SPA FLOATING IN THE THERMAL GROTTO

Qualified instructors teach innovative ways to float and relax in the warm waters of the thermal cave underground lake. Relaxing techniques inspired by yoga and bio-energy where you learn how to float naturally on the surface of the underground lake. Treatment helps induce a deep sense of wellbeing and allows to work on individual inner balance.

SPA DIVING IN THE THERMAL GROTTO

Scuba diving session in the warm thermal waters of our centuries old thermal cave. Guests learn specific breathing techniques that will help them regulate their blood circulation and help achieve a balance of mind and body. Our qualified instructors will be on hand to make sure guests are completely safe. Open PADI license is required.

THERMAL MUD

The mature thermal mud is made by mixing natural clays with the spring water, and matures for at least six months. The mixture is heated to 47°C and then fed directly to the treatment cabins. Application of the mud induces perspiration with a detoxifying effect, reduces inflammations, and favours oxygenation of the tissues. The treatment also has a decontracting and analgesic effect. The therapeutic indications of thermal mud are the same as those of the Grotta. Specifically treats all localised pain (arthritis and osteoarthroris), aching muscles and post trauma consequences in phase of recuperation.

Counter indications: children under 12 years of age, persons with heart problems, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding or during menstrual period. Before starting mud therapy a consultation with our doctor is necessary, so that he can decide which are the exact areas to be treated.

Advisable for chronic inflammations of the respiratory system and of the upper airways. Helps decongestion of the mucose and exerts a positive sedative action.

THERMAL ATOMIZATION IN THE ATMOSPHERE

The atomization of thermal water results in the depositing of mineral salts of thermal extract in the bronchial tubes with an anti inflammatory effect.

THREMAL WATER MICRONIZED NASAL DOUCHE

It moves dense mucus from nasal chambers and Eustachian tubes. Advisable for catarrhal otitis and sinus.

THERMAL NASAL IRRIGATION

It cleanses and stimulates mucus secretion from the frontal-maxillary sinus.

11. SPA ETIQUETTE

BOOK A TREATMENT

The first step that we suggest in a schedule procedure, is to consult our spa specialist in order to help you choosing the most suitable spa treatment.

ARRIVAL

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment: late arrival will limit the time for your treatment which will still end at the designated time.

MEDICAL ADVISE

Our doctor tutor is at your disposal for consultations regarding your health in relation to treatments and to their personalization. Please inform us of any serious disease or pregnancy.

DRESS CODE

If you have booked a treatment you will find your robe directly at the Spa. Bathing suit and swim cap are not included in our pool kit; you can bring your own or purchase them at the spa boutique.

BEFORE THE TREATMENT

Please avoid sun exposure and shaving immediately before and after any treatments. We suggest you to take a shower before treatments and remove contact lenses before any face treatment.

THERAPIST

We suggest you to inform our therapist of any possible problem which could interfere with the ideal execution of the treatment to reach its main purpose.

RELAXATION

Please avoid the use of mobile phones in the spa areas.

CANCELLATION POLICY

We require that all guests using the spa give a 24-hour cancellation notice. If less than 24 hours are given, the service may be charged.
