Southwest Harbor Public Library Family Concert Series 2447065 www/swharbor.lib.me.us 7/2 6:30pm Thursday Hawk Henries Hawk Henries is a member of the Chaubunagungamaug band of Nipmuck, a people indigenous to what is now southern New England. He has been composing original flute music and making flutes using only hand tools and fire for over twenty 25 years. Hawk is committed to music as a traditional art form and as a vehicle for building bridges of communication and mutual respect. The concert is sponsored by the library’s Summer Story Camp. We welcome all and encourage you to share this special evening with a child. They play infectious music that appeals to listeners young and old with insistent rhythms, bouncing bass lines and sweetly intricate melodies. (Guitars, upright bass, and woodwind or violin). Morgan spent all of her childhood summers on Mount Desert Island where she discovered that many secrets lie deep in the fog. G.A. Morgan, who “excels at world-building,” (School Library Journal), introduced us to Ayda in The Fog of Forgetting. Now, she raises the stakes with a deeper examination of the evil power at work in Dankar, the conflict between love and loyalty, and the pain of sacrifice. http://ga-morgan.com

Maine Mad Scientist ~ Gravity    This show is sure to make Isaac Newton proud! This is a forcibly fantastic show about Newton’s 3 laws of physics and other properties of the laws of motion and gravity! Rotational forces, a rocket pack blast off, electromagnetic propulsion, and our exclusive Newton's rocket car are just a few action packed experiments we will investigate. Just when you thought jet packs were something of the future, you’ll see us propel several members of the audience across the floor using our own, very special Mad Science rocket car! Come join us in our version of Mad Science Olympics. Jordan  Benissan  Master  African  Drummer  

Jordan Messan Benissan, a native of Togo, West Africa is a member of the Ewe people, He was introduced to music and dance at an early age through ceremonies and rituals and is renowned for complex cross-rhythms. He received his traditional music training from several West African master drummers and plays Ashanti and Ga music. He has taught and performed for all levels, from elementary school through college level. His World Music Band was featured as the official band for Béla Fleck’s Throw Down Your Heart concert in Waterville, Maine. Jordan encourages everyone to move, clap or play along. Hand drums are welcome. This will be a fun interactive evening to share with children and adults of all ages. .http://jordanbenissan.com/about.htm
