  • SWCPA in the Media

Recently two of our members, Sherry Keith and Vivian Edwards, were interviewed by Rick O’Block on his local Durango

sports talk radio program Four Corners Sports Block on station KIUP. They discussed the game of pickleball, its origins,

how it is the fasted growing sport in the country, and how quickly it is gaining ground here in Durango. They also gave a

big shout out to the SWCPA and our organizational goals and interests.

Vivian was also interviewed and filmed for an upcoming TV program on the local Durango station. She was interviewed at

the Rec. Center on the courts and covered many of the same topics as she and Sherry did on the radio. Thanks ladies!

    New Courts in Cortez

On June 30th Cortez Parks & Recreation held a

ribbon-cutting ceremony to dedicate 6 new

    outdoor pickleball courts. Twenty SWCPA

members made the trek to Cortez to support

the event and of course to play some serious

    outdoor pickleball!! Approximately 60 players

from throughout the 4-Corners area joined in

the festivities and games. The courts are

located in Centennial Park in Cortez and play is

open to the public. Soon they will have the

lights working for evening play. For more on

the event, see the article in the Durango

    Herald at this link:
