SOUTHERN MALAWI TOUR

This itinerary showcases the diverse landscape and the beauty of the Southern Malawi region.

It’s a combination of the big 5 safari, tea estates, Mountain hikes and some relaxing time at

the Lake. Below is a summary of the Day to Day activities:

Day 1 – 2 (Satemwa Tea Estates)

Arrival at Chileka International Airport.

Meet and greet by a guide from Nyasa

Adventures who will take you to Satemwa Tea

Estates. The drive to Satemwa is 1 hour on the

scenic route.

You will stay here for two nights and enjoy some

beautiful walks in the tea estates. Activities here

include tea tasting at the tea factory, guided

walks, bird watching and cycling.

Day 3 (Likhubula, Mulanje)

Depart Satemwa Tea Estates

after lunch and travel to

Mulanje and arrive late

afternoon. Driving time is

1.45 hours.

In the evening at your lodge,

meet your mountain guide for

a briefing about your hike the

next day.

Overnight at Likhubula

CCAP House, on Dinner, Bed

and breakfast basis.

Day 4 (Mulanje Mountain Hike)

Ascend from Likhubula to Chambe Plateau via the fairly shaded skyline path. Enjoy the

amazing views of the Likhubula valley. Overnight at Chambe Hut. Hiking time: 3 hours.

Accommodation on the mountain is in basic Mountain Huts with no electricity. Sleeping

mats/bags are provided and food is cooked on open fires.

Day 5 - 6 (Majete Wildlife Reserve)

Descend from the mountain via the amazing Chapaluka Route via the famous Likhubula

pools and waterfalls.

Hiking time: 3 Hours

Arrive at Likhubula and prepare for travel

to Majete Wildlife Reserve arriving late

afternoon.

Activities here include Morning and

evening game drive, Game Walks and a

boat safari on the shire river.

Travel time: 2.5 hours

Accommodation at Sunbird Thawale

Lodge on full board.

Day 7 – 8 (Cape Maclear)

Depart from

Majete Wildlife

Reserve in the

morning and travel

on to the Southern

Lake Shore and

enjoy a relaxing

time at Cape

Maclear.

Arrive in the

Afternoon and

catch the afternoon

boat to the

awesome Mumbo

Island.

Day 9 (Travel to Blantyre)

Depart Mumbo Island on

the morning boat and

travel to Blantyre,

stopping for lunch in

Zomba.

Overnight at Casa Mia.

Accommodation booked

on bed and breakfast

basis.

Day 10 (Departure)

Depart Casa Mia Lodge mid morning and travel to the airport for your outbound flight.

depensing on time of travel.
