Film The Adventure Travel Film Club is on a mission to bring outdoor inspiration to every city, village and valley in the world, showcasing the best in adventure travel films, providing inspiration for adventurers, explorers and armchair travellers – next stop: Heddon Valley for SWOF, where they’ll be screening a mixture of exciting shorts followed by a feature film each night. Yoga Join Jemima, a South West-based Yoga Alliance certified, multi- style yoga instructor, as she leads mixed ability outdoor classes in the secluded and serene setting of a stream-side orchard. Bushcraft sessions Learn how to build a boat from sticks and leaves and float it down the river, or make a bracelet from the woodland materials. Free. Monty Halls Devon-born and based, former Royal Marine Monty is a TV presenter, explorer, expedition leader, marine biologist, writer and public speaker. Anna Mcnuff Former GB rower, now a full-time endurance athlete, adventurer and mischief-maker, Anna has cycled 11,000 miles across the US, run New Zealand’s 3,057km Te Araroa trail, and leed it along the Jurassic Coast dressed as a dinosaur. Tobias Mews Author of 50 Races to Run Before You Die, Tobias is an off-piste endurance athlete, usually found doing ultra-marathons around Mont Blanc, multi-day running events like Marathon de Sables or swim-running in Sweden. James Ketchell An international adventurer and Scout ambassador, James is the only person to have cycled around the world, climbed Everest and rowed across the Atlantic. He’ll be at SWOF straight after riding around Britain. Russell Smith Russell has travelled Land’s End to John O’Groats on a kick scooter, run from Paris to London and traversed the widest route across the UK on foot. He will MC the speakers’ tent and tell some tales of his own. Jasper Winn Author of Paddle, about a kayak circumnavigation of Ireland, Jasper is a slow adventurer who has cycled across the Sahara, West Africa, India and around Iceland, canoed the Danube and roller- skated the Netherlands. Damian Hall Four years ago he barely ran, but recently Inov8- sponsored Damian set a record by doing the 630-mile South West Coast Path in 10 days, 15 hours. After SWOF he’ll represent the UK at the Trail Running World Championships. The Meek family Tim, Kerry, Amy and Ella are an outdoor- loving family dedicated to living more and owning less – they’ve spent the last two years travelling in a campervan, exploring and writing three books of mini adventures for families. Free outdoor experiences Whether you’re camping for the weekend or visiting the festival for the day, a range of attractions are on offer for you to enjoy completely for free. Go slow zone Chill out in the festival slow zone, located in a quiet, shady, riverside orchard, a short walk from the festival hub, which features an alfresco library complete with beanbags and outdoor-orientated books. Regular expert-led bushcraft and slow-adventure seminars will take place here. National Trust Walk a slackline, build a bivvy and learn how make bug hotels with National Trust rangers, or pick up a racket, kick a ball, lob a frizbee and enjoy a range of other fresh- air activities at the National Trust sport tent. Exmoor National Park Big Adventure Join ENP Rangers in their woodland and beach bases as they put on a Big Adventure, featuring a range of exciting activities like: Mini-raft racing Campfire cookery Soil printing Bark rubbings and nature art Scavenger hunts Pebble tower competition Cotswold Outdoor knowledge centre All weekend, experts from Cotswold Outdoor will provide advice on everything from footwear and food to outdoor tech and bike maintenance. Guided walks Join National Trust ranger and local expert Dan at the South West Coast Path Association tent and walk some of the UK’s biest and most beautiful long-distance path. Sharpen up your outdoor photography skills with pro shooter Esther Ling during a valley walk, leaving from the Panasonic tent Sat and Sun, 11.30am and 1.30pm. Walk (don’t run) with Join Tor McIntosh as she explains slow adventuring. Meet at the Slow Zone Sat 3pm or Sun 10am. Go barefoot with National Trust ranger Julie Hanson for a sans shoes stroll.
