FRANK MANNS

Frank and his first cousin Alfred Manns both lived in the village and both were professional soldiers by occupation who’d enlisted some years before the start of the war. Frank joined the South Wales Borderers in Gloucester prior to 1911. He was killed in action during the Gallipoli landings in April 1915, aged just 22. It is believed that he was buried at sea as the troops had not gained any ground at this stage. His death is commemorated at Helles Memorial, Canakkale.
