Thank you all – hunters, guests, guides, pilots, cooks – for another wonderful season! Good hunting to you!
Our 13th season saw our highest sheep age average yet (10.6 years)! The oldest ram taken, was 16 and has been in South Nahanni longer than we have. We clearly seem to be unable to even hunt all of our oldest rams.
There was no record book ram this year, but there was a trophy ram worth taking for every sheep hunter of the
2016 season.
Similar can be said about the moose hunts: The biggest moose at
65.5 inches spread was a show stopper, yet everyone had a great hunt and went home with a moose.
Caribou, as usual, showed several record book animals. Migration routes change constantly and here the helicopter always gets us to the ever-moving herds.
We have recently lost almost all of our mountain goat area to the Nahanni National Park, forcing us to change logistics by flying far away to our never before hunted western boundary, resulting in trophy billies of over 15 years of age.
The weather in 2016 was brilliant – and in consequence so was hunting and camping; putting everyone into the right frame of mind for their South Nahanni hunting adventure!
