Dr. Walker states that “the PD 360 action research program is exceptional.” It teaches the processes wherein teachers, principals, and support staff examine their own practices systematically by using research techniques. Students are taught to gather and analyze their own data, draw conclusions, and plan for future action.

Teachers are often overwhelmed with evaluation and assessment. Because assessment for literacy and numeracy are critical to instruction, Dr. Walker is using the PD 360 assessment programs to increase learning and drive assessment implementation among her students.

Dr. Walker knows that there has never been a greater need forteacherstobemorecompetentandconfidentintheirability to effectively teach mathematics and she is using PD 360 programs to address that need. Topics include: classroom practices best suited to internalize principles, the environmental and developmental factors that contribute to difficulties, andwaystodifferentiateinstructionalstrategies.

Teachers have a responsibility to prepare students in the basic skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening that will enable them to achieve success in every aspect of life. These language skills need to be taught kindergarten through 12th grade vertically as well as horizontally in all subject areas.

The Master of Education in Teacher as Instructional Leader Program uses PD 360 segments to illustrate how to teach reading in relevant and motivating ways as well as how everyteachercanbealanguageteacherwithspecificstrategies to improve student language skills.

The PD 360 diversity programs address problems such as misunderstandings of race, lowered expectations, and curricula that do not speak to minority experiences.

“Glenn Singleton’s “Courageous Conversations about Race” was excellent and extremely thought-provoking in a diversity class I taught last term. It encouraged a good deal of discussion.”
