How to Schedule Courses
The purpose of this presentation is to give a step by step guideto updating and creating classes in the term schedule of courseswhich will include you going to the University web site takingthe steps:
• Go to www.scsu.edu, Click on “Faculty & Staff”• Click on “SCSU Apps”• Sign in using your username and password• Click on “Application Navigator Banner 9”

If you are editing an existing course…• Go to SSASECT and hit Enter

If you are editing an existing course: Cont...• Enter the term, 201930 or current term. 10-Fall 20- Spring 30-Summer• The CRN field should be blank, click on the black next to the blank CRN field, to your
right and the search Query will appear. See next slide.

If you are editing an existing course: Cont...• Insert the term as a search field. Press the F8 key and all available courses for the term will
appear.

If you are editing an existing course: Cont...• DOUBLE CLICK on any field with data or click on a course then press the ”Select” button
in the lower right corner of the page and to pull up the course.

If you are editing an existing course: Cont...Click on GO and proceed to make the necessary changes and/or updates in SSASECT. See next slide.

If you are editing an existing course: Cont...• For those courses that you are updating in Banner, please remember to update the
following in order to prevent tuition calculation or grading issues, etc.• SECTION• CAMPUS• STATUS• SCHEDULE TYPE• INSTRUCTIONAL METHOD• GRADE MODE• SESSION• SPECIAL APPROVAL ( ONLY WHEN APPLICABLE) AND• PART OF TERM – the information on the right hand side will automatically show up.• For those courses that have variable credit hours, please don’t forget to insert the course
hours in Banner. The system will automatically assign the course one credit hour if you donot. Please review the second example.
• MAXIMUM ENROLLMENT• Click on the SAVE button in the lower right corner of the screen to save your edits.• The form has changed in appearance so you will now have to Scroll down to update the credit
hours and class indicators if applicable. 14

1. W = Web Delivery (Internet, Blackboard LMS) 2. E = Broadcast media (Satellite, Cable TV, Radio, CD-ROM, Blu-Ray)3. B = Two way interactive video

If you are editing an existing course: Cont...• To edit the number of seats in a course, Click on the “Section Enrollment Tab” then
the sub-tab “Enrollment Detail Tab” and edit you maximum number. • Press the SAVE Button.

If you are editing an existing course: Cont...• To edit the class dates, days, time, building, room and instructor, Click on the “Meeting Time and
Instructor Tab” and correct the information.• Press SAVE button in the lower right of the page and use the NEXT BLOCK arrow in the lower left of
the page to get to the next section and input the instructor. Press the SAVE button.

If you are editing an existing course: Cont...• If you have to change the Faculty ID, to locate the Faculty ID click on the black
next to the blank ID field, to your right and the search Query will appear.

to edit it.
