Foreword
This directory lists primary wood-using mills in South Carolina. A primary wood-using mill is defined as a facility that manufactures wood products directly from logs or in-woods chips. Secondary wood-using mills, which manufacture wood products from already partially processed wood, are not included.
The number of wood-using mills in operation in South Carolina changes over time with the business climate. This directory, as well as other subdirectories, is posted on the South Carolina Forestry Commission Website and is updated from time to time. The directories may be reached on-line at www.state.sc.us/forest/ under the “Forest Products” link.
Information in this publication was compiled by the South Carolina Forestry Commission (SCFC) and the USDA Forest Service Southern Research Station. Mill information was collected as part of the Timber Products Output (TPO) survey, a biannual survey used to estimate state-wide timber removals and mill production. Questions concerning this directory may be directed to Nathan Smith (803) 896-6127 or Tim Adams (803) 896-8802 of the SCFC. While most South Carolina primary wood-using mills are included in this directory, it is not all-inclusive. Some mills participating in the TPO survey chose to remain unlisted.
