Music/SFX/Font Decisions

By Tom Harris

For our font we wanted to show a gritty British feel, which is normally shown in British crime films. We found this font “BROKEN DETROIT” which had everything we were looking for and showed up well against any background even-though it is cracked and faded.

Font Decision 1

Font Decision 2

We looked at other font as well to make sure we had made a good decision, to the right is one we considered but was lacking in the roughness that the others had.

Music Decision 1

To find the perfect un-nerving yet gripping soundtrack we started looking on incompetech(left) but were unhappy with the range of soundtracks that were available so we looked elsewhere.

We came across another royalty free music website created by an individual interested in offering free music, on the condition that his website URL is featured in the comments section. It was here that we found our soundtrack.

Music Decision 3

After using the music we found on Bensounds we decided to incorporate another soundtrack in our trailer, we especially like the film score “Twisted Nerve” and decided to incorporate this using it to sow another use of pastiche from one of our inspiration films “Kill Bill”

SFX Decision 1

We decided very early on that we were interested in creating a very complex layered soundboard including; SFX, soundtracks and voice-overs so we started to collect relevant SFX off the college pool drive that we would be incorporated.

We then created several voiceovers to help the audience make sense of the video montage we had created ad to help the storyline shine through.
