Soul Survivor Saturday Celebrations Saturday 11th February 2017
Watford A huge thank you to the wonderful group of 13 who attended the Soul Survivor event in Watford, it truly was a magnificent time of worship, ministry and fun. The evening started with some challenges as one the vehicles had an issue which meant we had to return to base, but God was so good to us through the generosity of Patrick Leyden who is the father of Elena from our youth group. Patrick heard of our problem and kindly volunteered to take us to Watford and back. There was an incredible atmosphere of worship with worship leaders Tom Smith and band, which set the tone for the sermon from Mike Pilavachi, who spoke to us from 1 Samuel about David’s early life tending his
father’s sheep and seemingly categorised as insignificant by his Father, only to then to be anointed the next king of Israel. The challenge from Mike to the young people was we may feel insignificant or not good enough but God is able to use us for his Glory. Following the sermon was an invitation to discipleship in which 42 Young people dedicated their lives to Jesus Christ. TO GOD BE THE GLORY! Special thanks to Lisa, Natasha, Alison, Carol and of course the amazing Patrick for supporting me with the young people. God bless Nathan Gordon

THE EGG THAT SHARES THE
EASTER STORY
The new Real Easter Egg 2017 has been launched and this
year a 24 page Easter story-activity book illustrated by Alida
Massari is included in the Original, Egg Hunt and Dark eggs.
The Special Edition has an Easter traditions booklet inside.
The Sharing box with 30 eggs, comes with colour-in posters.
Out of the 80 million Easter eggs sold in this part of the world
every year, The Real Easter Egg is the only one which has a copy of the Easter story in the box, is
made of Fairtrade chocolate and makes a donation to charity from sales.
The Real Easter Egg was launched in 2010 but the supermarkets turned down the idea. It was left
to churches and church schools to place orders to fund the Meaningful Chocolate Company to
make The Real Easter Egg.
Here are a few words from consumers of the ‘Real Easter Egg’
“We want to thank you for your excellent Easter egg production! Chocolate is excellent and the in-
sert of the story of Easter superb. We are so grateful to you and your involvement with Traidcraft
in this”.
“Just back from house group. After study, the subject of Easter eggs came up and a lot of the group
had read in papers about the lack of the word Easter on eggs. Well done. You’ve started
something”.
The whole range can be ordered online at www.realeasteregg.co.uk or from Traidcraft, Eden.co.uk,
TLM trading.com, Embrace the Middle East. Christian bookshops and some cathedrals also have
some in stock.
You can also buy the blue Original egg from Tesco, Waitrose, or Morrison's supermarket, but these
are very limited so go and get yours early.
“Peter Statham would like to thank everyone for their prayers and best wishes for a swift recovery following his recent hip replacement operation with a special thanks to those who took on extra tasks to cover those he was unable to do.”
Robin, Marion and Sam Brenchley, also thank everyone for their prayers , flowers, cards and kindness shown throughout the time of Sam’s accident. Thank you to all those who covered for Marion in the church office and worship team. We are truly blessed to be part of this family of God at SBC. You are amazing. Please continue to pray for Sam’s healing, he is making a wonderful recovery .
Remember the Real Christmas Advent Calendars that has been promoted by Ann Hughes the
last two years. Below is information about the Real Easter Egg . We will not be organising
any purchasing at the church but hope this information will help you if you want to purchase
any for yourself..

Sunday 26th March 2017
It is very unusual for the editor of the Church monthly magazine to
write an article . However, this month I thought I would share a few
words with you celebrating Mothers Day, which as many of you
already know will be held this month of March.
I must admit at first when I saw the actual day to feeling some
annoyance that Mother’s Day this year happens to fall on the day that
the clocks spring forward one hour. I mean, so much for a lay in or
breakfast in bed, instead some of us will be rushing around more than
usual to get not only ourselves but all the household out of the house
for church. Hopefully leisurely lunches will be on the menu.
For me personally, this year is quite a significant Mother’s day. It will be the first one without my lovely mum
who passed away in 2016. Not long after my mum had died I went to the Hillsong Colour Conference which is
something I try to attend annually. One of the seminars was for mums and carers of young people which I found
very interesting, and I made some notes and thought you may find them interesting too.
1. Get together frequently with your sisters in Christ, sisterhood will make a huge difference as you encourage
one another on the journey of faith. We are relational creatures made for fellowship and what a world of wisdom
we can learn from each other.
2. Remember you are a key person in your family whatever the size, large or small. Make sure your family know
that “Your household, we will serve the Lord”. When those you have nurtured leave home and have to make
their own way in the world, you want to be able to say ‘I have no regrets-I gave my best’.
3. As for them leaving home, yes one day they certainly will, and what will you be doing then. It is so important
not to make your children into idols. Remember the calling God gave you.
4. Yes family life can be hard, just remember though, ‘hard is not wrong-its just hard’-try to make it fun’.
6. Take your kids with you if you can when you are ‘doing church,’ bring them on the journey with you.
7. If there is something you do that you don’t want to pass on, just don’t do it, it’s not worth it as they will look
at what you do, not what you say.
8. Appreciate what God has given you., don’t try to impersonate another person, be yourself. Its only when we
don’t embrace what God has for us, that we are jealous of others.
9. Pray to love God, Pray ‘God give me a heart to love you, Pray’ God make me love your word.
10. We are in a spiritual battle, teach your children to do battle . Teach them their value and worth
11. We are all called to communicate His word and to BIRTH FAITH in the next generation.
Well that’s all for now and I hope you found some of it interesting.
God Bless
Marion

Woodstock
News
On Thursday 16th February
we held our monthly service at
Woodstock Residential Home and
being 2 days after Valentines day,
the service was based around the theme
of "Love". We had Bible readings,
prayers, poems, hymns and Chris bought
us an epilogue based on the 5 letters of the
word B I B L E.
Our next planned visit is on Thursday
16th March when we anticipate celebrating
2 years of sharing the Good News
(how quickly that time has gone) with the
staff and residents.
Hopefully we will be doing something
special on that occasion involving cake!!!
Thank you to all those who have
participated either with their
presence or their prayers. There is
always room for more volunteers.
If you can join us please sign the sheet
when it goes on the lounge notice board.
We have had a request to hold Christian
services in Pine Lodge Residential home.
At the recent church members meeting the
membership was in favour of accepting this
offer providing of course there are willing
volunteers to provide the necessary help.
If you feel this is something you would like to
be involved in please speak to me David Casse,
either after a Sunday service or
telephone me on 01795 427861.
There will be more information coming soon
regarding dates and times for the new services
once we have a better idea who would be
involved.

I'm currently in year 9, I'm looking forward to
representing the youth and organising events that
you can look forward to throughout the coming
