With this unique solution SORALUCE opens a new dimension in the integration of several processes in one machine: traditional milling machine operations plus turning capabilities for heavy duty components, providing the possibility of manufacturing complex components in one machine and in one single setup.

These Multi-Task machines can complete all operations in a single setup – turning, milling, boring, drilling, tapping – on very intricate parts for industries such as the aeronautical, energy and precision engineering components, being suitable for unitary and serial production.

High dynamics The machine is provided with high dynamics: 45 m/min for the X axes and 35 m/min for the Y and Z axes, being the acceleration of 2 m/s2 in each individual axis. This, combined with the high power and torque of the main spindle and the improved thrust forces in all axes (up to 16 kN), results in a state-of-the-art solution for high chip removal capacity and stable state-of-the-art conditions for both milling and turning.

Eco-design machine SORALUCE is the first company in the Machine Tool sector to gain certification for its Product Design and Development Process Management System (Eco-Design) in accordance with UNE 150.301:2003 standard (ISO 14006).

The environmental management system has produced an overall environmental impact reduction in excess of 12%, consisting of:· 9% less consumption during manufacturing.· 16% less electricity consumption during use.· 10% less lubricant during use.

BACKGROUND CONCEPTS

Long lasting high precisionRigid and stable design for the highest precision: all main machine elements made from cast iron; GG30.

High performanceHigh precision and efficiency provided by a high torque direct drive spindle motor, which also guarantees low heat, reduced noise and no maintenance.

The longitudinal axis is driven by two servomotors, two gearboxes and a double rack and pinion. The vertical and cross axes are driven by preloaded ball screws with double recirculating nuts. Its heavy duty design and high dynamics provides the optimum in power and cutting speed capability.

SORALUCE Milling-Boring Heads are well known for being first class thanks to their reliability. The broad range of SORALUCE heads (Universal, Orthogonal, Horizontal, Modular Quill, Angular, etc.) are distinguished by their precision and high performance, enabling accurate complex milling, boring, drilling, reaming and taping operations.

Complete design, manufacturing, assembly and verification processes are conducted in-house, under the same roof, by an experienced team of highly skilled designers and assembly engineers.

To ensure high quality heads, the workshop is equipped with state-of-the-art, temperature and humidity controlled, high precision manufacturing machinery and assembly equipment.

With strict in-process quality controls and exhaustive run-off on specific test benches, SORALUCE certifies the highest quality for the most critical elements on this kind of machines.

Installed on a separate closed area, the magazine is located out of the working area at one extreme of machine longitudinal traverse in a fixed position.

The protection between the working area and the magazine is equipped with an automatic window which allows tool change.

MACHINE ENCLOSURE

The machine includes a fully enclosed working area with automatic operated doors and widely dimensioned windows for a very convenient view of the working area.

A separate room for the ATC enables to change the tools during the working cycle and the complete perimeter closing enables to have a very clean integration of the complete machine into the workshop within a compact footprint.

The control panel is located on an indexing and telescopic pendant arm, which allows the full control from the outside when working in automatic mode and very close to the head and the part when setting up the component.

This compact solution is based in the successful SORALUCE FL model, integrating now a flexible working area that can be configured to the customers’ needs with one or multiple working stations with fixed tables and rotary tables usable for both milling and turning operations. Machine table is prepared for the integration of a turning table, so both turning table and machine table surfaces are at the same height, providing a highly versatile and ergonomic working area.

For a performing turning behaviour, the machine is equipped with a specific turning attachment, connected to the head by means of an adaptor flange.

The turning attachment is locked to the head by means of a Hirth coupling. This solution, developed by SORALUCE, protects the bearings from the turning efforts and provides highly versatile features, giving flexibility to attach other head attachments as spindle extensions or angular heads.

Capto C8 equipped tools are used for the turning operations, being available both manual and automatic tool change versions for the turning tools.
