THE HAPS
Our first meeting in the
month of April found President
Archie ringing the bell at
7:30 sharp. Tom Eakins led
everyone in the Pledge and
John Watson provided the
invocation. The announcing of
visiting Rotarians cost Ke )Coker $5.00 since Joel DeSilva
was visiting us from the
mother club. Bruce Reyes had a
rough time finding a pair of
matching socks and was -late,
this prompted a five dollar-
fine from Archie. It seems
our very own John (I'll cover
that) Dolinsek is turning intoquite the banquet speaker
don't you know. John spoke tothe Sonoma County PlanningCouncil at the Fountain Grove

was rumored that John, being

THE HAPS
Our April 9th meeting found
John Dolinsek leading us in
the pledge followed by theinvocation by Peter
Treleaven. Archie quickly
got down to the task at
hand by fining Al Abramson A
$20.00 for blatant
advertising with Hall's
Zippy letter openers with
the nefty slogan "open up new
business with ad specialties".
Gary Bayless was fined • $20
for a recent fishing trip to
the Russian River where he
(get ready for this fish
story) caught and released 97
fish. Dolinsek suggested his
success was due to the nets
he was using. Dave Lorenzen
filling in for Carol Estes
reported the Airport Club
proudly displays a rather
large picture of Arch: jJulian. Archie gladly paid the
$25.00 fine which is less
than the 30 pounds Archie has
lost at the club. Tom Eakin
was fined the traditional $15
birthday recognition. Tom said
he was planning a lay-back
kinda weekend. Tom was fined
an additional five dollars for
rating on Peter Treleaven's
birthday. Bob Kinsley was
fined $20 for his 17th wedding
\ aiversary. Bob explainedafter 17 years of marriage he
has done it all and has no
special plans for this
anniversary. Gary Doolittlewas fined $5.00 for not
knowing what was on the cover
of the current Rotary
magazine. No, it wasn't aphoto of Frank Cercone'shouse. Phil Hulen arid Stan
Walker were also fined $5.00
for not having the right
answer which was a photo of
Orlando. Steve Owles won the
! privilege of drawing for the! magic marble to win the $190| it. Nice try Steve! Peter

THE HAPS
Our April 16th meeting found
President Archie leading the
group in the pledge of
allegiance, followed by Dam
Lambert and the invocation.
President Archie quickly
displayed his recording
talents by playing a recorded
portion of KSRO's "This It,
Sonoma County". This program
featured Nancy Aita and her
talk on our great Golf
Tournament. Nancy was not in
attendence but will receive
the full recognition she
truly deserves. In all
honesty, the coverage on the
radio program was excellent,
and Nancy represented the
Club and the Tournament in
grand fashion. Great job
Nancy! It was great to see
Del Raby back in our midst
after a trip to New Orleans.
Del relayed a great stor-
about running into other"
Rotarians. Del also brought
back a flag from the New
Orleans meeting he attended.
Thanks Del. Speaking of
returning faces...Cathy
Vyenielo fresh from a relaxing
tour of becoming a MOM is back
with us. We all missed you
Cathy and glad to see you
back. John Watson returned
from a cruise to Baja. John
rsnt a relaxing week taking
the sights and catching up
on much needed rest. John
claims he enjoyed himself and
for that enjoyment gladly paid
the twenty dollar enjoyment
tax. Jack Maley's wife "Sam"
and Stan Walker's wife
"Valerie" are celebrating
birthdays this week and they
each paid the fifteen dollar
routine. Peter Treleaven will
be traveling back east later
this summer to see family and
friends and we all wish him a
safe journey. The meeting
moved quickly to the marble
shoot-out. Randy Seelye won
chance at the $200 pot. No
such luck. A visiting Rotarian
from the Sebastopol Club won
the ten dollar raffle, Tim
Stuart. The meeting then
turned it's attention to our
guest speaker from the Sonoma
County Probation Camp in
Forestville. After a
presentation on the wonderful
activities and classes for
youth that they offer, the
meeting was adjourned.
WORK UPDATE
Peter Treleaven reported back
on the Saturday morning work
party at the church. Carol
"shake me all over" Estes
headed up the jack hammer
crew. Stan Walker had enough
foresight to line up a group
of pro's who really knew what
they were doing. Bob "King
Jack Hammer" and "Super
Painter" Ken Coker spent the
day after soaking in the hot
tub. All in all, it was a
great time had by all, and the
church work was finished.
IT'S YOUR SERVE
Art King needs your help.
Wanted, 8 great men to serve a
four hour tour in the greatest
battlefield known to Sonoma
County. Yes, we're talking
Montgomery High School.
Imagine, serving under the
leadership of Art King. Never
mind. Just think about serving
food to kick off the 24hour
relay challenge fundraiser May
Ist^from 4 till 8pm. Yes, Art
does need your help and he
promises no cooking! Set up,
serve, and clean up are the
required chores for this great
event. Give Art a call at the
office 527-0800, or at home
539-5980 to offer yourself.
THE SHADOW KNOWS
Gary Jensen needs more
volunteers to sign up for the
Job Shadow Program scheduled
for May 5th. You'll pick your
student up at the High School
and take them to work so they
can learn what it's like to
Iwork for a living. Then On the
I 6th you'll bring your shadow
Ito the meeting with you. It's
|a great deal of fun. See Gary|for more details and sign ups.

THE HAPS
Our last meeting was on April
23rd. I guess I should clarifythat statement. Our last full
meeting at the Double Tree on
a Thursday was April 23rd.
Since we were being visited by
our friends from Japan o V
regular meeting was shifted to
an evening meal with our
guests. So, it's been awhile
since I have -talked to you.
Let's refresh your memory, at
our last meeting John Lynch
lead us in the pledge of
allegiance and Peter Treleaven
provided the invocation. Since
President Archie was away on
what appeared to be a
vacation, our ever able
incoming Prez David Lorenzen
took over the proceedings.
Although David did kinda
forget the raffle, he did a
super job in keeping law ai )order. In fact, Gary
Doolittle found out how stiff
the law will become. It seems
Gary has been elected to the
Board of Directors at the
Luther Burbank Center. This
very special appointment is
one that carries alot of
responsibilty. Gary appears to
be up to the task and donated
twenty dollar to the cause.
Thanks Gary, .and
congratulations. Nancy Aita
#^as doubled hit at the
meeting. It seems she had to
pay fifteen dollars to regain
her copy of her radio debut
concerning our golf tournament
that was brbadcast over KXFX
'••THE FOX" 101.7 FM (typoerror) I think it was
broadcast over KSRO. Nancy
also had to pay another five
dollars for missing the
meeting on April 16th. It
seems Nancy was but teaching a
Leadership Santa Rosa class.
Warren Smith has once again
returned to the country
bearing gifts for Rotary.
4 irreri brought a Rotary flag
back to us from India. Nice
thought, but. Warren was fined
ten dollars for leaving the
country. Someone suggested
Warren should be fined twenty
dollars for nobody noticing
his absence while he was out
of the country.. Jeff
Abrahamsen celebrated his
•birthday on May 3rd. Jeff
gladly paid the ten dollar
right to live fee. It finallly
came time for the raffle that
Dave almost forgot and Peter
Treleaven won the right to go
for all the marbles aijd
extracted the wrong color.
Sorry Peter, better luck next
time. The meeting adjourned a
few minutes early with a
reminder of the Wednesday
night meeting with the
Japanese at the Double Tree on
April 29th. And a reminder
that the club would be dark on
it's reguarly scheduled
meeting of Thursday April
30th.
DEBUNKING
Yes, it's that wonderful time
of year again when we all get
together to remember the great
times had by all from the
leadership of our outgoing
President Archie. This year,
as in year's gone by Kent
Seegmiller has spared no
expense in providing the crew
with the best in celebration
atmosphere. This year's event
will be held at the Washoe
Bouse (black tie optional). I
guess one would expect to ask
±f valet parking would be
available.... don't ask, the
stage will be in town that
night. Ken C. is relieved to
hear of the veggie plate
special being offered. If you
would like to know the
particulars, see Kent
Seegmiller for all the
details.
GOLF TOURNAMENT
It appears that all is going
i; well with the tournament. The
I only item that needs buttoned
J down is the raffle prizes.
jPlease see Rick Franke andI fill your vehicle with those
I raffle prizes, and deliver them
I to Rick. All donations wouldkf be greatly appreciated.
HOI AIR
Since 1989, The Sonoma County
Hot Air Balloon Classic,
organized by the Windsor
;Rotary Club, *has generated4
jmore than $35,000 in
charitable funds.
This years event, on June
26th, expects an even bigger
response and selected "Winning
with Education" as its primary
recipient. This countywide
charity directly affects the
schools by funding the
specific needs of a particular
classroom. Please show your
support at this year's event.
