Sondheim Theatre

I am going to see a show at the Sondheim Theatre with

-------------------------------------- .

You may like to use this space for a picture of you and your companions.

These are the front doors I will use when I walk inside the theatre.

Security guards at the theatre will often have a quick look inside

people’s bags to make sure they don’t have anything dangerous inside.

This is the Box Office. It is a counter with a large glass window.

People can buy tickets here.

If I need to collect my tickets at the theatre, I will to go to the

Box Office and a member of staff there will give my tickets to me.

If I need to go to the toilet I will look for the signs or ask an usher

for directions to the toilet.

There are bars in the Sondheim theatre that sell refreshments. This is the Stalls bar

This is the Dress Circle bar

If I look at my ticket I can see where I need to go to find my seat.

If my seats are in the stalls I will go down Stairs like these

If my seats are in the Stalls I will go through a door like this.

If my seats are in the Dress Circle I will go up stairs like these.

If my seats are in the Dress Circle I will go through a door like this

I will show my ticket to an usher who will tear it and I will go into

the auditorium.

When I enter the auditorium I will show my ticket to an usher who will

show me where my seat is.

This is a picture of the auditorium. These are the seats for the

audience to sit in.

When it is time for the show to start, an announcement will remind

everyone to turn off their mobile phones. The lights will go out and it

will be dark. Everyone will be quiet.

It is important to be quiet during the show so that I can hear

everything. Actors will come out on stage. The show has started.

If I would like to take some time out I can ask to go out of the theatre

and an usher will show us to a quiet place.

I can watch the show on a television screen in the quiet place if I want

so I will not miss anything.

If there is an emergency I need to follow these signs with my

companion.

Halfway through the show there will be a break called an ‘interval’. The

show stops for 15 minutes and the lights in the auditorium go on. I can

buy a drink at one of the bars.

I can also buy an ice cream.

At the end of the interval I will hear bells ring and announcement

asking everyone to go back to their seat as the production is about to

re-start. If I am not already sitting down in my seat I will go to it

and sit down and try to be still and quiet again.

The actors will come back on stage and the show will start again.

At the end of the show everyone will clap their hands to show the actors

that they have enjoyed the show. If I want to clap I can. I don’t have

to clap if I don’t want to.

If the clapping is too loud I can cover my ears. I can also wear my

headphones and hold __________________________ hand.

When the show has finished, I will leave the

theatre and go out of the front door.

I have been to see a production at

the Sondheim Theatre
