God did not call man a “man”, but He called him a “soulsoul”. The reason for this is that a man is judged by his soul. The soul is the organ of man’s free willfree will, and both human spirit and human body are incorporated into it. The soul has the free will. It takes as its master the part that it likes.


Filament (bodybody) is the physical material for conducting electricity and emitting light

Electricity (spiritspirit) is the source of light

Light (soulsoul) is the product of the combination of the electricity (spirit) and filament (body)

The human spirit is not the soul and is not the Holy Spirit.

John 4:24 says, 24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in

spirit and in truth."


Man’s spirit is composed of three parts:

ConscienceConscience – the discernment of right and wrong

IntuitionIntuition – the direct consciousness not dependent on anything else.

FellowshipFellowship – our worship to God


THE SOUL OF MANTHE SOUL OF MAN



The soul soul is where man’s consciousness lies. Man is conscious of his own

existence because of the activity of the soul. Everything included in man’s personality is a part of the soul.


Three main elements in a man’s personality:

WillWill – deliberating organ where the power of judgment lies.

MindMind – thinking organ where intellect, knowledge and mental capacity resides.

EmotionEmotion – organ of love, hatred, and sentiments.


Without the willwill, man would be a machine.

Without the mindmind, man would become totally foolish.

Without the emotionemotion, man would be senseless like wood or stone.



THE FALL OF MANTHE FALL OF MAN



The man God created is very different from the other things that God created. When God created man, He gave man an absolute free will.

Both obedience and disobedience are at his discretion, and he can choose either at will.


The temptation of Satan comes first to the bodybody, then to the soulsoul, and last to the spiritspirit.

… “lust of the flesh”… then “lust of the eyes”… and “ the vainglory of life.”


The tree of knowledge led to man’s fall, but God used the foolish treefoolish tree to save man.

24He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. 1Peter 2:24


All the devil’s works go from the outside to the inside, while all the works of God’s SpiritGod’s Spirit go from the inside to the outside.


WAY OF SALVATIONWAY OF SALVATION



All of man’s spirit, soul and body have been permeated by death. Death is present at every part of man. Therefore, man has no alternative but to receive God’s life.


“ there is no condemnation to those

who are in Christ Jesus” Romans 8:1


8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

9Since we have now been justified by his justified by his bloodblood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! 10For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Romans 5: 8-10


The cross bears the punishmentpunishment of the sinner, the cross evaluates the worthworth of the sinner, the cross crucifiescrucifies all sinners, and the cross releases thereleases thelife of the Lord Jesuslife of the Lord Jesus.


REGENERATIONREGENERATION



Before man is regenerated, his spiritspirit is far away from God and is dead. The soulsoul controls the whole man so that he lives either in his ideas or in his excitement. The lusts and desires of the bodybody bring the soul into subjection.


To be born againborn again is completely a matter in the spirit; it has no relationship with

the soul or the body.

Only spirit can serve Spirit (Rom. 1:9; 7:6; 12:11), only spirit can know Spirit (1 Cor. 2:9-12), only spirit can worship God who is Spirit (John 4:23-24; Phil. 3:3), and only spirit can receive revelation from God who is Spirit (Rev. 1:10; 1 Cor. 2:10)


How can man obtain regeneration of the spirit?

5If we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection Romans 6:5


THE NEW SPIRITTHE NEW SPIRIT

26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spiritnew spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26



Man's deadened, fallen spirit is made alive by receiving God's life imparted through the power of the Holy Spirit. This is regeneration.

The eternal life in John 3:16 is the life of God which is put into man's spirit by the Holy Spirit. Because this life is God's life, which can never die, all who have been regenerated have this life and are said to "have eternal life."


This rebirth is the first stepfirst step in the spiritual lifespiritual life.

If after regeneration, a believer remains for a prolonged period of time in the flesh, God's saving way will notwill not be manifested to be perfected in him.
