SolidWorks 2009 Student Design Kit

Important  

Please Read First 

Before downloading the Student Design Kit please ensure that: 

(a) all previously loaded versions of SolidWorks are removed. 

(b) the PC has a broadband internet connection.  

(c) you have obtained the required School License ID or SDK Code from your teacher 

(d) you are logged on as ADMINISTRATOR 

(e) you have disabled the antivirus software for the duration of the download. 

Navigate to the following website: www.solidworks.com/EuropeanSDK 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. Scroll to the bottom of the webpage and double click on  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Fill in the fields below. 

Note: School License ID or SDK‐ID is unique to your school and is the second set of six digits 

of your school code.                           1234 1234 1234 1234 ABCD ABCD  

Input a valid Email address as a serial number will be sent to that Email address in order to continue with installation 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Scroll to the bottom of the page to accept the license agreement 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4. Accept the license agreement 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5. A popup may appear at the top of the screen requesting to allow the download of a file ‘sldmdownload.cab’.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

6. Left click on the tab and choose ‘Install ActiveX Control’ 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

7. The window shown below may appear Choose ‘Retry’ 

 

 

 

 

 

8. Choose ‘Install’ 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

9. Retrieve the Serial Number from the email address which you input at the start of installation. Input the serial number below. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

10. SolidWorks will connect to the SolidWorks site to validate the serial number. This may take a few minutes. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

11. Choose ‘Individual (on this computer)’ as the Installation Type 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

12. Choose ‘Next’ to accept the standard installation 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

13. Choose ‘Next’ to accept the default file location 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

14. Choose ‘Download remaining files from SolidWorks via the internet’. Choose Next 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

15. Select ‘Download all required files for me….’.  

Ensure ‘Install automatically after download is complete’ is selected 

Choose ‘Download Now’ 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

16. Downloading files will begin. This will take 2‐3 hours depending on internet connection. 

Download progress may be viewed onscreen. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

17. When download is complete SolidWorks installation will begin automatically. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

18. Installation Complete. Select the check boxes shown below. Choose Finish 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

19. Choose ‘Yes’ to restart your computer 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

20. When your computer restarts double click on the SolidWorks icon on the desktop 

The SolidWorks Product Activation dialog box will appear.  

Make the selection shown below. Choose Next 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

21. Select ‘Automatically over the Internet’ Choose ‘Next’ 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

22. Input the required information in the fields. Choose ‘Next’ 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

23. SolidWorks connects to the internet to activate your license. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

24. Activation complete, Choose ‘Finish’
