Volunteering Opportunity

PDH was created on the 15th February 1999 in Lom, Togo and in 2001

opened its doors to international volunteers wishing to undertake

voluntary humanitarian work.

At the time this document was created, January 2013, PDH has already

received and worked with 142 international volunteers coming from

America, Europe and Oceania (Australia, New Zealand).

We have had all types of volunteers in the past (including two

motherdaughter pairings) from all sorts of

professions and backgrounds, covering an

age range from 18 to 67, all of whom have

fitted in equally well into the organization

and found it a profound experience.

Join us

PDH warmly welcomes international interest in our volunteer program. We have hosted a diverse crowd in Lomover the last decade from solo travellers, to groups of friends, to one mother-daughter pairing all of whom fitinto the organisation equally. Regardless of your age (we have seen 18 through to 67) or your profession,volunteer work in Togo can be a profound experience.

How long can I stay?There are no minimum or maximum stays at PDH, we are willing to work with your schedule to find something thatworks for both of us.

How much does the program cost?Volunteers are asked to make a 100,000f CFA (150 EUR / 200 USD) donation on arrival. Full boardaccommodation is then provided at a rate of 25,000 (37.5 EUR / 50 USD) per week.Ie 12 weeks would total to 400,000f CFA (600 EUR / 800 USD).

What is the accommodation like?You will be accommodated with a host either at the centre of with a partnering family in a comfortable room withbasic amenities. Please keep in mind that conditions in Togo may not meet what you are used to at home howeverwe work to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Let your host know of any dietary preferences so they cantailor meals to you!

What does a typical work day look like? On a typical Monday to Friday, you will attend our daily meeting at 07:30 before accompanying one of our agentson a case visit . From 13:00 to 14:45 you are encouraged to take a long lunch with your host, before returning todocument your visit in the afternoon and assist with activities at the centre until 17:30.

accepted anywhere.
