PRESS RELEASE 1/2011

SOLESTAR: The powerhouse in your shoe New carbon insole optimises power transmission

Berlin, April 2011.- It's light, hides away almost in-

visibly in your shoe and ensures considerably more

pressure on the pedal: SOLESTAR, the innovative carbon

insole, is suitable for every cycling shoe. Although

SOLESTAR is currently only available in German-speaking

countries, it has already become firmly established

amongst professional cyclists. Cyclists such as Gerald

Ciolek and Christian Knees rely on SOLESTAR and have

participated in its development. What’s more, since the

beginning of the year, the new top team Leopard Trek

that includes cyclists Andy and Fränk Schleck,

Fabian Cancellara and Jens Voigt, has also chosen

SOLESTAR.

With SOLESTAR, Oliver Elsenbach, sports scientist and successful advisor to professional cyclists on training management and the optimization of riding positions, has completely redefined insoles for cycling shoes. Road cyclists, mountain-bikers and triathletes can benefit from the new, individually adjustable design of the extremely thin and light carbon insole.

SOLESTAR's patent-pending active principle ensures that the foot remains stable in the cycling shoe and in the best position for maximum power transmission. Oliver Elsenbach: "Unlike conventional cycling shoe insoles, SOLESTAR puts the foot in a sort of rest position. This means that SOLESTAR counteracts the shear forces that usually occur when pedaling. The foot constantly re-mains in an ergonomically perfect position and the movement mechanism is optimised.” This results in in-creased performance, improved comfort and a reduction in overstraining.

How SOLESTAR works:

• SOLESTAR is made from a special carbon material,

which makes the insole extremely light and thin, so the foot moves close to the pedal.

• The metatarsal support provided by SOLESTAR pre-

vents the bending of the foot and the internal rotation of the leg during the pressure phase in the pedaling cycle.

• SOLESTAR lowers the joint of the big toe while also

providing raised edges for the forefoot. This re-sults in an equal distribution of force over the whole of the metatarsal axis.

• SOLESTAR features a heel clasp that holds the rear foot and enables direct contact with the shoe sole.

In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, SOLESTAR is dis-tributed via certified pedorthists. Its distribution outside of German-speaking countries is currently being arranged. The company is seeking interested distribu-tion partners. About Oliver Elsenbach and SOLESTAR:

Oliver Elsenbach has been successfully advising professional ath-

letes on training planning and bike fitting since 2003. In recent

years, this has enabled him to specialise in the field of orthotic

insoles for competitive athletes and riding position optimisation

for cyclists. The Cologne-born expert tinkered for six years with

the idea to develop the perfect insole for cyclists. The break-

through in the insole's development was finally made in autumn 2010,

in cooperation with Perpedesröck, one of the leading German manufac-

turers for insoles and specialist in working with carbon in this

field. www.solestar.com

The transfer of power from food to pedal is a central feature in cycling. This is where the SOLESTAR cycling shoe insole comes in. Its special operating principle stabilizes the foot, preventing the shear forces which typically occur when padaling, and correct the movement mechanism.
