Potential of Solar Themal in Europe
Future development and potential
• “Full R&D and Policy” scenario considers substantial
financial and political support mechanisms, energy
efficiency measures as well as intensive research and
development activities.
• According to this scenario, solar thermal would make by
2020 up to 6.3% of the EU’s 20% renewable energy
target, representing an annual sector growth rate of
26%.
• This would represent 0,8 m² of installed capacity per
capita and 9% of the low temperature heat demand in
Europe.
• Over 450.000 sustainable full-time jobs could be created
by 2020
