Promoted to staff by Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Head of Environment and Sustainability Trudy Ellery through an internal email campaign, participants signed up through a nominated member of staff to receive a free home energy assessment at a time of their choosing and in the comfort of their homes. Staff were offered the opportunity to learn how to lower the cost of their energy bills while contributing to a research trial aimed at increasing Australia’s focus on renewable energy.

Have your local Central Victoria Solar City (CVSC) home energy assessor conduct free home energy assessments for you and your work team and then transfer these behaviour changes to the workplace. CVSC is offering free home energy assessments in exchange for participation in research into energy use behaviour across Central Victoria. This research will inform future government energy policy and forms part of the Australian Government’s Solar Cities program.

2. receive a free home energy assessment. (Senior management support is critical in the development and implementation of this offer. It is essential that the Chief Executive Officer or the Managing Director receive the first assessment.)

3. appoint a champion to collect name and phone details of staff wishing to receive a free assessment.

4. issue an email, intranet message or editorial in the company newsletter highlighting the experience, the benefits of the assessment and alert staff to the offer. (CVSC will provide you with the text to include in your main communication to staff to promote the free home energy assessments.)

5. Send participating staff details list to your home energy assessor.

rESUltCentral Victoria Solar City will provide you with a report on the outcomes of the challenge and details of the next energy efficiency step you may wish to take with your business.
