OUR AddEd vALUE STEP By STEP
TAKINg UP CHALLENgES By LEvERAgINg INNOvATION ANd ExPERTISEIn the latest years SO.F.TER. has tackled many projects of great interest and importance for the manufactu-ring industry and has succeeded in delivering its cu-stomers brilliant solutions regarding issues like cost reduction, performance improvement, technologi-cal innovation, metal replacement, weight reduc-tion, search for sustainable materials, 2K solutions.
WELL BEgUN IS HALF dONE: THE CHOICE OF THE RIgHT mATERIALSO.F.TER.’s strength stands in its comprehensive pro-duct portfolio, which includes as many as 18 basic re-sins, ranging from thermoplastic elastomers, to ther-moplastic vulcanizates, to engineering plastics for a total of 60,000 different formulations and 6,500 pro-ducts currently in production. By sharing the customer’s objectives and analysing his requests we can support him in the choice of the material that best suits his ap-plication needs and his price/performance goals.
ONE TO ONE APPROACH: PROdUCT CUSTOmISATIONWhen existing compounds do not match the custo-mer’s requirements, we can develop tailor-made for-mulations that achieve the required mix of proper-ties and price level. This process involves our R&D de-partment which, starting from several working hypo-theses, develops a sample material through various lab tests and trials. The process continues with the moul-ding trials carried out with the assistance of our tech-nical service, up to customer approval.
gLOBAL PRESENCE: THE SAmE PROdUCT, EvERyWHERE SO.F.TER. is a truly global partner, capable of delive-ring the same product, with the same qualitative stan-dards, everywhere in the world. Our worldwide partner for the certification of the group companies is DNV, a leading certification body globally recognized for its high professional standards.
ACCELERATINg TImE-TO-mARKET: THE ENgINEERINg SERvICEThanks to a suite of sophisticated software including Moldflow, 3D Modeling, FEM (Finite Element Mode-ling) and ANSYS our Engineering Service carries out analyses and simulations that allow:
- to analyse the behavior of the material flow inside the mould and to identify the most appropriate and efficient position of injection points. This enables to obtain a highly efficient moulding process, with re-duced energy consumption and low risk of defecti-ve pieces.
- to simulate the behavior of the finished object in its real-life operational conditions (stress analysis) and show any weak points in advance, thus allowing the customer to take preventive action.
Our Engineering Service allows to shorten the time-to-market and to save time and money, allowing cu-stomers to transform their new idea into a market suc-cess in a fast and secure way.
REdUCINg PROJECT COmPLExITy: ONE SINgLE PARTNER FOR HARd/SOFT SySTEmS Co-moulding of rigid plastics and soft elastomers, also known as 2K moulding, is often used to achieve the integration of 2 or more components in a single piece and leads to a significant reduction of costs and pro-duction times. Thanks to its experience in the produc-tion, use and integration of engineering plastics and elastomers, SO.F.TER. can provide specialist advice re-garding this technology and can help customers to re-duce the complexity of projects and the number of in-terlocutors.
