Monday, 24 September1000–1200 | Opening General Session: Translating Big Data into Business Results

MODERATOR: Eithne Treanor, E.Treanor Media

SPEAKERS: Alisa Choong, Shell; Gavin Rennick, Schlumberger; Doug Suttles, Encana; Darryl Willis, Google Cloud

Everyone is asking about modernizing and transforming our industry using big data, but the real question is how to use it to improve safety and increase profitability.

Can we take a systems approach to creating a true step-change in the safety, quality, and efficiency of our operations? To do so, we need to combine hardware, software, data, and domain expertise seamlessly, and collaboratively across geoscience, engineering, drilling, completions, and operations. And more importantly, we have to change our mindset and embrace the change in our culture.

This year’s Opening General Session will address these challenges and explore how new data analytics can help improve safety, increase efficiency, and make better decisions as we adjust to the new normal or lower-for-longer industry environment.
