Reflecting the high value UK companies place on this important event and the increasing interest they have in building an international profile, SMMT is heading a select group of 51 UK companies representing a diverse range of products on offer from components, spare parts and car accessories to workshop equipment and tools, and paintwork and corrosion protection.

Growing interest in UK automotive manufacturing has seen more than £5.6 billion of investment committed to UK facilities, new model programmes and R&D activities by global vehicle manufacturers and tier 1 suppliers in the last 18 months. International investors have been im-pressed by the competitiveness, productivity and exper-tise of UK businesses, its skilled, dedicated and flexible labour force and ability to meet demanding targets and deliver outstanding quality.

Recent growth has been supported by the UK’s Automo-tive Council, a strategic partnership between government and industry working to develop a long-term, strategic direction for the sector, attracting greater investment into UK R&D and technology, strengthening the supply base and improving the image of the industry. There is a new spirit of endeavour in the UK, competitive companies working with Government to deliver a more successful manufacturing supply base and a more attractive career for young people.
