THE MARRIAGE OF HERMES AND VENUS, No. 1

1. In the early Instructions in Spiritual Alchemy, Alchemical Section, the Aspirant haslearned that SOLAR Energy was received by the Psychic Solar Plexus, that is, theCenters in the Etheric and Astral vehicles.

2. The progress or journey of the Solar Energy through these psychic centers may becalled the PRIMARY CIRCUIT of the Electronic Energy.

3. Then, the Aspirant was taught by the process of Induction, the resultant current wasestablished in the physical correspondences to the psychic plexuses. This was theSECONDARY CIRCUIT of the Electronic Energy.

4. Briefly, the resumé is as follows:

Solar energy is received by the Solar Plexus, transmitted to the PINEAL GLAND, transmuted by the latter into nerve force, transmitted to the Heart, transformed therein to Mechanical Energy, the highest vibrations of which are directed to the PITUITARY BODY, which organ and center transmutes them into Soul Energy, extracting therefrom the SOULAR ESSENCE which becomes the spiritual sustenance and nourishment of the EGO.

5. Therefore, the Solar Energy in the Primary Circuit through the Etheric and AstralCenters is seen to become ultimately the final product of the Secondary Current,Soular Energy, from which is extracted Soul Essence, or CORPUSCULARENERGY.

6. The Communication of the Secondary Current is effected by means of theSYMPATHETIC SYSTEM, which is fully shown on the color chart “A”.

7. Let us now understand exactly what a “plexus” really is. A Plexus is a network ofnerves of the Sympathetic System, the principal ones being shown on the chart. TheSolar Plexus is the largest in the body.

8. The Coeliac, or Solar Plexus (Plexus Coeliacus) “supplies the viscera in theabdominal cavity. It consists of a great network of nerves and ganglia, situatedbehind the pancreas and the lesser peritoneal cavity and in front of the aorta and cruraof the Diaphragm. It surrounds the coelic axis and root of the superior mesentericartery, extending downward as low as the pancreas and outward to the suprarenalglands. This plexus, and the ganglia connected with it, receive the great, the smalland the least splanchnic nerves of both sides, and some filaments from the rightvagus nerve. It distributes filaments, which accompany, under the name of plexuses,all the branches from the front of the abdominal aorta.

9. Of the ganglia of which the solar plexus is partly composed, the principal are the twosemilunar ganglia (ganglia coeliaca) which are situated on each side of the plexus,and are the largest ganglia in the body. They are large, irregular, gangli-form masses,formed by the aggregation of smaller ganglia, having interspaces between them.They are situated in front of the crura of the Diaphragm, close to the suprarenalglands; the one on the right side lies beneath the inferior vena cava. The greatsplanchnic nerve joins the upper part of each ganglion, and to the inner side of eachthe branches of the solar plexus are connected. The lower portion of each semilunarganglion is detached, and is named the aorticorenal ganglion.

10. The interlacing of the filaments of the sympathetic and vagus nerves forms thecardiac plexus. The Superficial lies beneath the arch of the aorta; deep in front of thebifurcation of the Trachea.

11. The Cervical Plexus is an interlacing of the branches (anterior) of the first four spinalnerves.

12. The Esophageal Plexus is a plexus of the pneumogastric nerves, which surround theesophagus.

13. Leber’s Plexus is a plexus of the venous type in the ciliary region of the eye, and issometimes called Schlemm’s Canal.



14. The Lumbar Plexus is formed by the union of the upper three pairs of the LumbarNerves and part of the fourth.

15. Meissner’s Plexus is a gangliated sympathetic plexus, in the submucous layer of thestomach and small intestine.

16. There are also the Carotid and Hypogastric Plexuses; they are shown on the chart.

17. From the solar plexus are derived the following: Phrenic or Diaphragmatic Plexus,Suprarenal Plexus, Renal Plexus, Spermatic and Ovarian Plexuses, Gastric, Splenicand Hepatic Plexuses, the Superior Mesenteric Plexus and the Aortic Plexus.

18. The principal corresponding ganglia are also shown.

19. Careful study of this chart will show the actual, intimate correspondences furnishedby the Sympathetic System and the various Plexuses, between the UPPER BRAIN(Head) and the LOWER OR ABDOMINAL BRAIN (the Solar Plexus). In otherwords, between the physical Self or Body, and the Psychic Self, or Etheric and Astralcorrespondences to the physical Solar Plexus.

20. Also the close approximation of the principal plexuses to the psychic centersenumerated in the earlier lessons will be noted, and it is possible to see at a glancehow the action and functions of the centers or organs are under the influence andcontrol of this psycho-physiologic organism.

21. From the immediate location of the principal brain centers, down through throat,larynx, heart, breasts, abdomen, to the genital system, the close interrelation may bedefinitely located and established.

22. In this vast Sympathetic System, the Plexuses may be said to constitute the POSITIVEand the Ganglia the NEGATIVE POLARITIES.

23. Many students have sent inquiries as to why no special exercises have been given forthe awakening of the several centers listed, as the Instructions proceeded, with theexception of the Instructions on Concentration and Purification wherein definiteexercises for the strengthening of the Will Power were given.

24. The reason may now be given. In awakening the Solar Plexus, the Aspirant, if he hasfollowed the Instructions carefully, has awakened ALL the centers simultaneously.For the action and function of the Sympathetic System, as can be seen by the chart,does not permit of isolated excitation of any one center, but it was important that theattention of the Aspirant at the very start should be concentrated on one focal pointalone.



25. One does not feed each organ in one’s body individually, but to the stomach is thefood directed, and the entire digestive system takes care of the fuel supply to thebodily organism deposited therein.

26. So too, in the Awakening of the Solar Plexus, the attention is directed primarily tothat point, as a focus, the center of INGRESS as we have been taught and from thatpoint of departure, the energy has been consistently developed into active functioningin all the centers connected therewith.

27. This is why so many students have inquired concerning the sensation of heat, not onlyat the solar plexus itself, but in the heart, noting increased heart action, heat in thebrain centers, throat, extremities, breast and sex centers. Some have been alarmedthereat, not knowing that it was the natural result of their own efforts and was anevidence of the success of the same.

28. It is important for us to remind the Aspirant at this point that, unless otherwiseexplained at the time, whenever the term “Solar Plexus” is used, it is done in theREAL sense which is the coordinated activity of both the physical and etheric solarplexus centers.

29. So, in its dual nature, the Solar Plexus is the link that unites the Ego to the Body, andthe vehicles through which the functions of mind are correlated.

30. This must be understood to mean the functions of Mind in so far as responses tomental impulses are concerned, by various parts of the physical structure.

31. Now in studying the circuit of the Electronic Current, we have found that the twomost important centers, organs, or instruments so far as both their immediate andultimate results and products are concerned, are the PINEAL GLAND and thePITUITARY BODY.

32. These two highly important organs regarding which so little is really known byacademic science are commonly described by physiologists as of the series of“Ductless Glands.”

33. Ordinarily, the materials separated from the blood by the process of glandularsecretion are discharged from the organ in which such glands are located and expelledfrom the body as in the case of the kidneys. “Ductless Glands,” however, are thosewhich exercise a modified form of secretion, whereby the material abstracted fromthe blood undergoes specific change and is added to the lymph or restored to theblood without being discharged from the secreting organ or used in any other way.These Vascular, or Ductless, Glands are:



The Spleen The Thymus and Thyroid Glands The Supra-renal Capsules (Kidneys) Tonsils PINEAL GLAND PITUITARY BODY

34. These glands all exhibit one special function in common, that of supplying highlyorganized blood during fetal life and childhood.

35. Now, selecting from these ductless glands, the two that function in notable relation tothe seat of human consciousness and the central station of human motive power, wefind that the Pineal Gland and Pituitary Body as described above, being glands thatsecrete certain material from the blood which is not thereafter discharged by thegeneral organism in which they are located (the brain), and from their knownrelations to the physical, psychical and psychological life of the individual, stand asdefinite POINTS of ELECTRONIC CONTACT between the physical and thepsychical or Spiritual organisms. Thus, these two Ductless Glands act as theGATEWAY between the Human Brain Consciousness of the Aspirant and thePsycho-Spiritual Consciousness of the Ego.

36. Let us recapitulate the properties and attributes of these two notable and highlyimportant glandular organs with their dual natures and functions. The anatomicallocation of these organs has been given in the preceding Instructions, but we show inPlate B, a sectional view of the human brain, which will enable the Aspirant to form amore definite visualization of the exact position of the Pineal Gland and the PituitaryBody. Especially their relations to other highly important cerebral centers.

37. The biological student knows that in the study of the cell, he notes 1st, the Cell wall,2nd, the Inner Lining, 3rd, the Protoplasmic content, 4th, the Granules in theProtoplasm, 5th, certain well-defined vacant or “clear” spaces in the protoplasmiccontent called VACUOLES; 6TH, the Nucleus; 7th , The Nucleolus or point of contactwith the ALL-LIFE.

38. With this in mind, the Aspirant should note especially the Ventricles of the HumanBrain; of which the Third and Fourth are indicated on Plate B.

39. For within these Vacuoles of the Great Brain Cell complete, or Ventricles as they arethen called, is the nearest approach to a vacuum possible in the Human Body. And letevery Aspirant keep in mind that the nearer it is possible for a man by scientificprocess to approximate a perfect vacuum (which has never thus far been attained), thenearer that man has approached the Subtle Ether which is de facto, the Divine Breath,which makes man and all other things living creatures. The purpose of theseVentricles will be clearly realized as the Instruction proceeds.

40. NATURE AND PROPERTIES OF THE PINEAL GLAND:

1. Reddish in color (Fire), approx. ½ inch diameter.

2. Named from assumed resemblance to a pinecone.

3. Has a Central Ventricle itself.

4. Is connected with the Third Ventricle, projecting downwards between theSuperior Corpora Quadrigemina WHICH ARE THE CENTERS OF SIGHT.Hence the appellation “THIRD EYE” (Although the Pineal Gland is not aneye).

5. As the Corpora Quadragemina are the Center of Exterior Vision or Sight, sothe Pineal Gland with which they are connected is the Center of InteriorVision and Sight.

6. The Pineal Gland wastes at time of puberty.



7. As the Pineal gland becomes inactive, sexual activity or physical creativeactivity increases. As the Pineal Gland is active, Creative activity on thephysical plane becomes dormant.

8. Has marked connection with mental precocity, weight and early sexualdevelopment.

9. The Pineal Gland is an organ of Sensation and Feeling as well, for it isconnected by two nerves with the Optic Thalami, which are the brain centersfor the “reception of the sensitive sensorial excitations” from all parts of thebodily periphery.

10. Thus, eye-like in nature, the Pineal Gland is the center which receivesimpacts of sight and sensation both from the world without and the worldwithin, and to some extent as later developed, on its own account as well.

11. The organ for Inner Spiritual Feeling, Sensation and Vision.

12. The Center of the INTUITIVE PRINCIPLE.

13. Produces by transmutation, NERVE FORCE.

41. NATURE AND PROPERTIES OF THE PITUITARY BODY

1. The center of the MIND or MENTAL PRINCIPLE.

2. Produces by transmutation, SOUL FORCE OR ENERGY, andCORPUSCULAR ENERGY.

3. Center through which the mental process (cellular) of every organ or cell inthe body acts in the line, power and principle of SELECTION of proper foodconstituents, medicines, affinities, etc., of every kind.

4. Removal of Pituitary Body stops every organic function, causing death.

5. Pituitary Body governs every blood-making organ that produces secretions.

6. Front lobe of Pituitary Body contains organs or processes that detectimpurities by the sense of smell.

7. Note close association of Pituitary Body with olfactory organs.

8. Rear lobe governs the kidneys, lungs, etc.

9. Pituitary Body is the center of man’s disease-resisting power.



10. Disease of the Pituitary Body is “Premature Old Age.”

11. Pituitary Body is the MIND of the organic Functions of the physical body.

12. Removal causes death in three days.

13. Removal of anterior lobe causes death in trifle longer period.

14. Removal partially of anterior lobe causes sexual infantilism, showing closeconnection with mental powers both creative and pro-creative.

15. The two lobes are the seats of the Higher and Lower Minds of the Human.

16. Lower mentality functions through the anterior, larger, lobe.

17. Higher intellectual mentality functions through the smaller, posterior lobe.

18. ABOVE ALL, THROUGH THE PITUITARY BODY, WILL ISENERGIZED BY MIND, both the Higher and Lower Minds being activeaccording to the evolutionary status of the individual.

42. THIS ENERGIZING OF THE WILL BY THE MIND is all-important, because it isthe motif of the Principle of Natural Selection and Discrimination throughoutCosmos, and is the CAUSE of all changes in Nature.

43. When the forces of the Pituitary Body and the Pineal Gland INTERACT, THEHIGHEST POWER OF SPIRITUAL VISION AND COGNITION IS AWAKENED,and the Relations of all things and creations to the Creator are made manifest in anyand all regions of Being.

44. Just as we consciously follow the circuit of the Primary Current as it brings up theSolar Energy to the Pineal Gland and later to the Pituitary Body, we shall see that inthat process we witness the attempt of Nature to draw up the physical CreativeEnergy in the physical Body, coincident with the drawing up of the Creative Energyor Power of the psychic Self through the Etheric and Astral Centers.

45. Man is a complex being. He is a UNITY in his Brain, or we should more correctlysay he SHOULD be a Unity therein. He is a DUALITY in the association of HEARTAND BRAIN. He is a TRINITY in the correlation of HEART, BRAIN ANDSOLAR PLEXUS.

46. The Human Brain with its Etheric counterpart represents the microcosmic Heaven,where the greatest spiritual results accrue. The Abdominal Brain or Solar Plexusrepresents both Purgatory in one aspect and Hell in the other, in the microcosm. Inthis Abdominal Region, the gross material of the microcosm is put through thealchemical processes of distillation, sublimation, putrefaction and fermentation;



subjected to the action of the vinegars, the product REDEEMED, and the refuse cast out into outer darkness.

47. The Upper Brain is the seat of the Elemental Regents, so-called, who act under thedirection of the creative Hierarchies in charge of human evolution, to guide and guardthe microcosm.

48. The Upper Brain is composed of two hemispheres connected by cross fibers. Themotor action of the left side of the body is controlled by the right side of the Brainand vice versa. When the Aspirant remembers this crossing of the brain fibers inconjunction with the location of the seat of the EGO, in the “Triangular Space” justback of the root of the nose in the forehead, he will see at once how truly is Humanity‘crossified’ or crucified on Matter, or the EGO crucified on the Cross of Matter, onthe “Place of the Skull,” by the Nails of Desire, between the two thieves of theHigher Self and the Lower Self.

49. The Master Jesus said to one of the Thieves; “This day shalt thou be with me inParadise.” When the EGO triumphs, the Higher Self will have drawn up from thelower creative powers to such an extent that the great truth, which is the motif of thisinstruction, will have been accomplished.

50. The two brains, the Upper or Heavenly and the Abdominal or Purgatorial, SHOULDBE ONE COMPLETE UNITY. Both are centers of creative activity. Yet the functionand creative power of both should be united and resident in the upper organ. Butwhen the Pineal Gland “atrophies” at the age of puberty, the sexual creative power onthe objective plane descends to become the slave of the abdominal brain. Hence it isthat the creative powers of humanity are so often seen to be apparently under thedominion of the lower nature of man.

51. Thus it is the duty of the Aspirant to regain his proper spiritual equilibrium and drawup the creative energy from its “Fall,” redeem it, and restore it to the perfect UNITY.In every male there is a definite percentage of the female element. In every femalethere is a definite male element. In every human being, outwardly male or female,the brain presents the dual aspect of the Upper and the Abdominal. The separation ofthe higher or mental creative power, from the descending lower creative powerfunctioning through desire and sense response to the factors of form, color, and tone,which compose the elements of the environment of the individual.

52. Now let us digress for a moment.

53. In 1895, Wilhelm Konrad Roentgen, then Professor of Physics at Wurzburg (BornMarch 27th, 1854, at Lennep), discovered that when an electric discharge passesthrough “a tube so exhausted as to maintain a high vacuum,” the glass of the tubebeing highly phosphorescent, any phosphorescent substance, such as potassiumplatinocyanide will become luminous when brought near to the tube. He also foundthat a piece of metal placed between the tube and a plate covered with thephosphorescent substance cast a sharp shadow on the plate. Later experiment



demonstrated the possibility of these rays of phosphorescent light penetrating various substances of varying densities.

54. Professor Roentgen’s hypothesis was that they were longitudinal vibrations in theEther, but on account of the uncertainty which then as well as now exists amongphysical scientists, he termed the rays “X-RAYS.” These now famous rays arepropagated in straight lines, starting from a place where the Cathode Ray strikesagainst a solid object in VACUO, and the direction of the rays is not bent when theypass from one medium to another, that is, the direction of propagation is not bent.

RULE: If the pressure in the tube is fairly high, so that the potential difference between its electrodes is small, and the velocity of the Cathode rays is consequently small, the X-Rays coming from the tube will be very easily absorbed and are called “Soft Rays.”

RULE: If the exhaustion of the tube is carried further, so that there is considerable increase in the potential differences between the cathode and the anode in the tube and therefore in the velocity of the cathode rays, the X-Rays have much greater penetrating power.

55. It is a moot question among physical scientists whether X-Rays are a form of light, orelectromagnetic disturbances propagated through the Ether. They resemble light innot being deflected by either electric or magnetic forces, while their characteristicsecondary radiation may be compared with the phosphorescence produced by ultra-violet light.

56. The student should read these rules and statements over very carefully, for on acorrect understanding of them depends his ability to grasp the great truth which findsits ultimate expression and demonstration in the secret teaching of the Brotherhood.Remember especially the VACUOLES or Ventricles in the Brain.

57. Just as in the individual cell, the etheric magnet desire impulses act through thevacuoles, so in the aggregation of cells composing the complete individual. TheAstral Man transmits, and the Etheric Man receives and INDUCES in the physicalMan through corresponding vacuoles or ventricles in the brain, and the Central Canalof the Spinal Cord, specific desire impulses and impacts. The contact of thesePsychic and Physical Vacuoles or ventricles is the in-breathing of the “INNERBREATH.”

58. The third ventricle in the Human Brain is the one with which we are speciallyconcerned in this Instruction, inasmuch as it connects with the Pituitary Body in front,and the Pineal Gland behind; the connection being made by the Infundibulum,anatomically described as a hollow, conical, funnel-shaped process. At the frontextremity is the Pituitary Body, while the broad funnel end projects into the ThirdVentricle.



59. The Aspirant is now requested to study carefully the shape, mechanism andarrangement of an “X-Ray Tube,” as shown in Plate C. The diagram is made from astandard tube, such as is used in every day practical work.

60. In the intelligent understanding of the properties of this simple vacuum tube, and thecorrelation of its physical phenomena with the properties and manifestation ofRosicrucian Science, lies the complete understanding of what constitutes not onlyclairvoyance but also the opening of the portals into amplified states ofconsciousness. The extent of penetration depending solely upon the energy,persistence and steadfastness of the individual seeker after Truth.

61. Each Aspirant to whom this Instruction may come is particularly reminded of hisobligation in the Alchemical Section, not to reveal any part of these Instructions toany person not similarly obligated and at work upon the same Instruction.

62. Roentgen termed his newly discovered rays the “X-Rays” on account of theirunknown classification. Similarly we may term the power of clairvoyance the humanX-Rays, for the materialistic student does not know whether to classify such power aspart of the phenomena of Light, Etheric Vibration and Radiation, Mentalphosphorescence, or a form of the N-Rays of the Human Body.

63. The X-Rays and Clairvoyance ARE IDENTICAL.

64. Not only are the X-Rays and Clairvoyance identical, they are produced in identicallythe same way.

65. Not only are X-Rays identical in nature and manner of production with clairvoyance,the results are identical.

66. The result in each case is the production of an INNER LIGHT that is like unto noother light, each with the POWER OF PENETRATING SOLIDS, LIQUIDS ANDGASES; EACH GIVING INSIGHT INTO AMPLIFIED DIMENSIONS OF SO-CALLED SPACE.



Recall what was written about the soft rays and the hard rays.

These correspond to the two kinds of clairvoyance:

Soft Rays—Weak, involuntary, undeveloped clairvoyance.

Hard Rays—Strong, voluntary, fully developed, controlled clairvoyance.

67. In the case of both X-Rays and Clairvoyance the result is the “unknown” light or“ILLUMINATION” that makes CLEAR VISION POSSIBLE, in the one case to thematerial scientist; in the other case to the spiritual scientist.

68. The source of the Primary Current in producing the X-Rays by a powerful InductionCoil is, of course, well known.

69. But whence comes the power for the reproduction of true, developed, fully controlledspiritual X-Ray light or the Illumination of Clairvoyance.

70. Its MOTIVE, or Electro-Motive Force (E.M.F.) is DESIRE for true clairvoyance andthe willingness to work, study, and develop for it.

71. Its POTENTIAL is WILL, energized by SOUL POWER and MIND.

72. The Current itself is the CORPUSCULAR ENERGY which, it will be rememberedfrom our Instruction, is the SOULAR ESSENCE extracted by the EGO from theSOULAR ENERGY, the product of the functions of the Pituitary Body.

73. This Corpuscular Energy manifests on two planes, the lower or physical, in theformation of the Blood Corpuscles in Spleen and Marrow. Then it is a portion of theElectronic Energy “crystallized sunshine.” (See Instruction No. 4)

74. In the X-Ray tube, the light produced is that of the Corpuscular Bombardmentcoincident with the radiation of Etheric Waves in continuous direction, on physicalplanes only.

75. In the Brain, the light produced by the X-Ray of Clairvoyance is that of theCorpuscular Bombardment coincident with the radiation of the highest Waves of theReflecting Ether in continuous direction on both physical and material planes. It isthe result of the process of the transmuting of Solar Energy into the Soular Energy.

76. The Aspirant is now requested to study carefully Plate D. Here the X-Ray tubeshown in Plate C is placed with its poles in juxtaposition with the Pituitary Body andthe Pineal Gland, the Mid Brain forming the Anti-Cathode plate or obstacle fromwhich the radiation of the Spiritual Light Rays emanate, the vacuum of the tubecorresponding to the Vacuoles or Ventricles of the brain to which your attention hasseveral times been called.



77. In Plate A, the Aspirant could follow the extent of the Sympathetic Systemthroughout its ramifications and see its connection with the Brain and Spinal Column.Here in Plate D, he can see the direction the Soular Energy takes in the form of WILLenergized, under the direction of MIND.

78. Entering at the Anode Pole (Pituitary Body) it contacts the obstacle or Anti-Cathode(Mid-Brain) and proceeds to the Cathode Pole (Pineal Gland). As the result ofsystematic, persistent, seriously undertaken concentration on the Solar Plexus, whichhas unconsciously to himself awakened all the plexuses, this Soular Energy DRAWSUP the Etheric and Astral Electromagnetic Currents and Forces through the CentralCanal of the Spinal Column. In its transit of the X-ray Tube of the Human BrainProcesses produces the (unknown) X-Ray of true Clairvoyance or SOUL LIGHT.

79. In this “drawing up” process, we are singularly reminded of the saying of the MasterJesus, that is written,--“And I, if I be lifted up, will draw all men unto me.” In thisdrawing up by the Soular Energy, the Lower Brain Creative activity and the Higher



Brain Mental Creative activity, become once again united, as should be the inherent birthright of every man.

80. THIS UNION OF THE HIGHER INTELLIGENCE OR WISDOM WITH THECREATIVE POWERS OF THE LOWER ENERGIES, WHICH FUNCTION ONTHE OBJECTIVE PLANE, IS THE MARRIAGE OF HERMES AND VENUS,APHRODITE. (ACCOMPLISHED IN PART IN THE ZELATOR DEGREE)

81. We say “in part,” for the complete process must be accomplished by the Aspiranthimself. But as he was informed in that Degree, by accepting it, he manifested asincere desire to ATTAIN and placed himself under the guidance and cooperation ofSpiritual Powers who would assist all his worthy efforts. On the Physical Plane theimposition of the hands of the Dadouchos and Stolistes directly over the TriangularSpace, which is the seat of the Ego and the Death Junction, by the cooperation of theMartian Powers gave the initial impetus to the line of directional WILL Forceenergized by MIND and SOULAR ENERGY.

82. When the arc between the two poles (Pineal Gland and Pituitary Body) wascompleted, the Marriage of Hermes and Venus was consummated. The fruits of thatmarriage, the use and knowledge of the SOUL LIGHT then liberated, must be theresult of the continuous effort of the Aspirant in striving to live the life then openedbefore him.

83. It will now be seen that the terms “Spiritual Illumination,” “Inner Light,” “SoulLight.” etc., are not mere figures of speech or generalities. When used by theRosicrucians who have attained the requisite knowledge, the Initiate knows at oncethat the actually phosphorescent illuminated Ventricle in the brain of the Aspirant isreferred to.

84. Let us again advise extreme caution in regard to the use of this knowledge. We donot know that it has ever been put in definite printed form before. Many students ofoccult science have approached it, of whom perhaps Madame H.P. Blavatsky madethe greatest advance. She secretly defined the Hermetic Marriage, but the actualsignificance, the actual process, method and the identity of the penetrative rays onboth the physical and spiritual planes we do not know to have been taught outside theRosicrucian Brotherhood. As its members well know, our Brotherhood seeks to teachthe Hidden Mysteries by the accurate correlation of both science, philosophy andreligion.

85. How near Madame Blavatsky approached to the real truth involved, may be seenfrom the following quotation from her writings of long ago, before they weredistorted by the personal ambitions of later theosophical students:

“When a man is in his normal conditions, an adept can see the golden aura pulsating in both centers, like the pulsations of the heart, which never cease throughout life. This motion, however, under the abnormal condition of effort to develop clairvoyant faculties, becomes intensified, and the aura takes on a stronger



vibratory or swinging motion (or action.) THE ARC OF THE PULSATIONS OF THE PITUITARY BODY MOUNTS UPWARD, MORE AND MORE, UNTIL JUST AS WHEN THE ELECTRIC CURRENT STRIKES SOME SOLID OBJECT, THE CURRENT FINALLY STRIKES THE PINEAL GLAND AND THE DORMANT ORGAN IS AWAKENED AND SET ALL GLOWING WITH THE PURE AKASIC FIRE. (The capitals are ours.) This is the psycho-physiological illustration of two organs on the physical plane, which are respectively the concrete symbols of the metaphysical concepts called Manas and Buddhi. The latter, in order to become conscious on this plane, needs the more differentiated fire of Manas, but once the Sixth Sense has awakened the Seventh, the light which radiates from this Seventh Sense illumines the fields of Infinitude.

For a brief space of time man becomes omniscient; the Past and Present and Future, Space and Time, disappear and become for him, the Present. If an Adept, he will store the knowledge thus gained in his physical memory, and nothing save the crime of indulging in Black Magic, can obliterate the remembrance of it.

If only a chela, portions alone of the whole truth will impress themselves on his memory, and he will have to repeat the process for years, never allowing a speck of impurity to stain him mentally or physically before he becomes a fully initiated Adept.”

86. This quotation from the brilliant occultist will show how very close she came to thefacts. It shows, however, that the real truth and identity of the “Pulsations of thePituitary Body” were as yet unknown. What she so aptly described as the “PureAkasic Fire,” is none other than the Primordial Soul of Corpuscular Essence” of theAbsolute, which, by the action of the Pituitary Body is differentiated out from theSolar Essence or Energy.

87. The advance of modern physical science in the domain of radioactivity, makes itpossible now for the Brotherhood to state occult spiritual truths in a “languageunderstood of the people,” in other words, in terms of well-defined, scientificformulas.

88. The Aspirant will also understand more comprehensively how the Soul qualitiesfunction coordinately with the various organisms. Thus, in general, the

Emotional Soul functions resultant upon Cardiac Action.

Intellectual Soul functions resultant upon activity of the Pineal Gland.

Conscious Soul functions resultant upon activity of the awakened Pituitary Body.

89. PSYCHIC VISION OR CLAIRVOYANCE results from the atomic vibrations in thePituitary Body, and may by caused by so-called spiritualistic development, drugs,artificial stimuli and the action of certain salts.



90. SPIRITUAL VISION OR CLAIRVOYANCE results from atomic vibrations in thePineal Gland, and is a much higher order.

91. COMPLETE ILLUMINATION results from the union of the forces of both thePineal Gland and the Pituitary Body, the UNIVERSAL FIRE, FOHAT, whichillumines all planes to the adept.

92. This is technically, the union of the SIXTH AND SEVENTH SENSES, theANDROGYNE OR DIVINE HERMAPHRODITE, and the creative results of suchperfect union are seen in the masterpieces of Poets, Artists, Sculptors, Musicians andSpiritual Messengers, whose creations are not alone for the individual, but for thewhole of humanity at large, and for all ages. The good works of man live after him,regardless of the passing of time, which, from the human standpoint, is simply themeasurement of the progression of incident.

93. The secret Instruction has been devoted to the technical exegesis of the OPERATIONBEGUN in the Zelator Degree. The COMPLETION of that Operation must be theresult of the individual work and effort of the aspirant. The next lesson will conveyexact instruction as to the requisite steps to be taken to further this purpose, but it isessential that the contents of the present Instruction be fully comprehended andmastered before beginning the mental and physical work involved.

94. In the processes described in this lesson will be found the real truth of theREDEMPTION AND SALVATION OF MAN. The “Fall of Man” was the Fall ofSpirit when it was isolated in its creative powers and functions to the estate of thephysical sex organs. The SALVATION OF MAN is when he raises or REDEEMSthis power from that estate and RAISES it to the Spiritual.

95. The student who desires to progress is earnestly recommended to procure standardphysical treatises wherein the phenomena of Radio Activity and Radiant Matter andEnergy are fully discussed and defined. Remember the Hermetic Axion, “As above,so below; as within, so without.” The Aspirant may learn much of his inner self by acareful study of his outer environment and the physical phenomena relating thereto.

96. The Physics, Chemistry and alchemy of the Natural World, are but the coarser,outward manifestations of the Physics, Chemistry and Alchemy of the SpiritualWorld, and it must be remembered at all times that the purpose of the occult studentis to SEEK THE INVISIBLE CAUSES OF ALL VISIBLE EFFECTS, the correlationof CAUSE and EFFECT in all things. The search for such causes will inevitably takehim far back of cosmological time periods, and deeply into the inner processes of hisown being. Above all, the sincere student who will really accomplish most, is the onewho first and last sees GOD, the SUPREME BEING and the ABSOLUTE manifest inALL things; in other words, who sees all in the ALL, and the ALL in all.

97. Such a student will soon realize that “in my Father’s House (his own body) are manymansions,” and he will know that as he strives, it will be possible for him to enter intothe “Kingdom prepared for him before all worlds” for the very body he inhabits WAS



prepared for him in the MIND of the Father before all worlds (of our manifestation) were brought into being.
