    PROCEDURE FOR COLLECTING DATA

It would have been )uite imossible for me to get a resonse

from every high school student# within the ages of $%&$'# in

*ingston where the research is done! +ence# two secific

rominent high schools within the area were targeted! ,oth

"olmer-s ,oys and .irls School aro/imately consists of

about $011# which only $2 students from each were necessary in

    order to ensure accurate conclusions!

I therefore decided to choose the students by randomly selecting

students! 3he thirty selected students were rovided with

)uestionnaires# instances where the students# who were

interested# could not fill out the )uestionnaires at the sur of the

moment were allowed to return them the ne/t day!

    16

    ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION

According to the collected# it can be said that thirty ercent 4%156

of the students of "olmer-s .irls and ,oys mostly consume

alcohol at the ages of $2&$7! "hilst you have five of thirty students

4$856 who does not drink alcohol!

,ased on data collected# it can also de said that ma9ority of

students 42156 who began to consume alcohol# did so based ontheir own decision! "hilst# ten of the thirty students 4%%56 were

ressured to drink by their eers!

:ne can also develo# from the data collected# that students mostly

when attend social events such as arties and ;dance- etc!

Also# it was detected that forty three ercentage 4

    16

change# believed that other methods could have heled them to

    sto drinking alcohol!

    PRESENTATION OF FINDINGS

Students# the ages of $2&$7 art take in the consumtion of

    alcohol the most!

Ma9ority of the students# who consumes alcohol# did so

    base on their own decision!

Ma9ority of students )uestioned were affect negatively by

consumtion of alcohol! In other words# the alcoholic

beverage made them drunk# leaving them artially

unconscious and some not having self control!

Many students are not willing to sto drinking# but the

minority who do# do not believe that avoiding arties is the

answer to sto consuming alcohol! 3hey refer to dro a

    friend that influences them to!

    RECOMMENDATIONS

Parents should ensure that it becomes their number one

resonsibility to educate their child about the conse)uences

of drinking! Parents should ensure that their child do not

attend social events that encourages under aged children toart take in consuming alcoholic beverages!

Parents should limit the amount of arties their child attend!

Also adults who romote these events should encourage

under aged children to refrain from drinking alcohol or

from consuming too much in order for it not to influence

    their behaviour!

.overnment should imlement strict rules and enalities

for romoters of social events who condone under aged

children consuming alcoholic beverages! 3he governmentshould ensure that these social events have strict security

    measures!
