(2015) Social Psychology: 6th Canadian Ed. McGraw-Hill, Toronto. COURSE DESCRIPTION: A survey of theory and research on the nature and causes of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in social situations. Topics include person perception, social cognition, attitudes, prejudice and discrimination, interpersonal attraction, personal relationships, aggression, pro-social behaviour, conformity and compliance, and behaviour in groups. COURSE COMPONENTS TESTS AND EXAM FORMAT All tests and exams will comprise 50 multiple-choice items (1 mark each), 6 short answer questions (5 marks each), and 2 long answer questions (10 marks each). Multiple choice and short answer items will be selected from the lectures, text book, and video material. All tests and exams are non- cumulative. I will e-mail the PowerPoint slides to all students in the class after each chapter has been covered. Those who miss class during video presentations will not be given the video material – no exceptions. You will be given short and long-answer questions to study typically at least 2 weeks prior to each test or exam. CLASSROOM RULES OF CONDUCT It is important to treat your classmates, teaching assistant, and instructor with respect at all times. Turn off all cell phones. The capturing of photos, videos, or audio in the classroom is prohibited unless authorized by the instructor.
