From the Cardinals in Birch Trees - Gray (A), cut:• (3) 5” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (24) 5” squares. From each square cut (1) Template 2 triangle for a total of (24) Template 2 triangles.• (1) 3 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut (6) 3 ½” squares.

From the Pinecones - Green/Brown (B), cut:• (1) 2 ¾” x WOF strip. Sub-cut (12) 2 ¾” squares. Cut the squares across both diagonals to make (48) 2 ¾” triangles.• (2) 2” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (24) 2” squares.

From the Snowflake - Aqua (C), cut:• (4) 3 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (24) 3 ½” squares.• (2) 2 ¾” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (24) 2 ¾” squares. Cut the squares across both diagonals to make (96) 2 ¾” triangles.• (1) 2 ⅜” x WOF strip. Sub-cut (12) 2 ⅜” squares.• (4) 2” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (48) 2” x 3 ½” strips.• (3) 1 ½” x WOF strips. From the Block Repeat - Multi (E):• Fussy cut (6) 11 ½” squares each centered on a block.

From the Folio Basic - Brown Bag (F), cut:• (4) 1 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (12) 1 ½” x 11 ½” strips.• (4) 1 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (12) 1 ½” x 13 ½” strips.

From the Cars, Campers and Cabins - Multi (G), cut:• (2) 4 ½” x 50 ½” Length of Fabric (LOF) strips.• From the remaining fabric, cut (2) 4 ½” x 38 ½” WOF strips, piece as needed.

From the Plaid - Aqua/Brown (H), cut:• (6) 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding.

From the Forest - Green (I), cut:• (1) 4 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut (4) 4 ½” squares.

From the Animal Scenic - Multi (Backing), cut:• (2) 66” x WOF strips for the backing. Sew the strips together and trim to make the 66” x 54” back.

1. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 11 ½” Fabric F strip to each side of (1) 11 ½” Fabric E square. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 13 ½” Fabric F strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric E square. Trim the block to measure 12 ½” square to make (1) Block One square (Fig. 1). Repeat to make (6) Block One squares total.

2. Place (1) 2 ⅜” Fabric C square on top of (1) 2 ⅜” Fabric D square, right sides together. Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 2). Sew ¼” away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 2). Cut the (2) squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 3) to make (2) half-square triangles. Trim the half-square triangles to measure 2” square to make (2) Unit 1 squares (Fig. 4). Repeat to make (24) Unit 1 squares total.

3. Sew (1) 2 ¾” Fabric C triangle and (1) 2 ¾” Fabric B triangle together on a short side. Sew (1) 2 ¾” Fabric D triangle and (1) 2 ¾” Fabric C triangle together on a short side. Sew the (2) newly sewn triangles together along the long sides to make (1) Unit 2 square (Fig. 5). The square should measure 2” square. Repeat to make (48) Unit 2 squares total.

4. Sew (2) Unit 2 squares together along the Fabric C sides to make (1) Unit 3 strip (Fig. 6). Repeat to make (24) Unit 3 strips total.

5. Sew (1) Unit 1 square to each end of (1) Unit 3 strip to make the top row. Repeat to make the bottom row. Sew (1) Unit 3 strip to each side of (1) 3 ½” Fabric A square to make the middle row. Sew the (3) rows together to make (1) Unit 4 square (Fig. 7). Repeat to make (6) Unit 4 squares total.

6. Place (1) Fabric C-Template 1 triangle on top of (1) Fabric A-Template 2 triangle, right sides together, aligning the left sides (Fig. 8). Sew the (2) triangles together along the left side. Press the smaller triangle open.

7. Place (1) Fabric C-Template 3 triangle on top of the Fabric A-Template 2 triangle, right sides together, aligning the right sides (Fig. 9). Sew the (2) triangles together along the right side. Press the smaller triangle open. Trim the block to measure 3 ½” square to make (1) Unit 5 square (Fig. 10).

8. Repeat Steps 6-7 to make (6) Unit 5 squares total.

9. Repeat Steps 6-7 and refer to Figures 11-13 for fabric identification, placement, and orientation to make (6) of each unit for Unit 6 through Unit 8.

10. Place (1) 2” Fabric D square on the top left corner of (1) 3 ½” Fabric C square, right sides together (Fig. 14). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 14). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 15). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼” away from the sewn seam.

11. Follow Figure 16 for the seam direction to add a 2” Fabric B square to the lower right corner of the 3 ½” Fabric C square to make (1) Unit 9 square (Fig. 17).

12. Repeat Steps 10-11 to make (24) Unit 9 squares total.

Quilt Top Assembly (Follow the Quilt Layout while assembling the quilt top.)18. Sew (1) Block Two square to each side of (1) Block One square to make Row One. Repeat to make Row Three.

19. Sew (1) Block One square to each side of (1) Block Two square to make Row Two. Repeat to make Row Four.

20. Sew the (4) rows together in numerical order to make the Center Block.

21. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 48 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 38 ½” Fabric C strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

22. Sew (1) 4 ½” x 50 ½” Fabric G strip to each side of the Center Block.

23. Sew (1) 4 ½” Fabric I square to each end of (1) 4 ½” x 38 ½” Fabric G strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top.

24. Layer and quilt as desired.

25. Sew the (6) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric H strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

26. Bind as desired.

13. Sew (1) 2” x 3 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of (1) Unit 5 square. Sew (1) Unit 9 square to each side of the newly sewn block to make the top row (Fig. 18).

14. Sew (1) 2” x 3 ½” Fabric C strip to the top and bottom of (1) Unit 6 square. Sew the newly sewn strip to the left side of the (1) Unit 4 square (Fig. 18).

15. Sew (1) 2” x 3 ½” Fabric C strip to the top and bottom of (1) Unit 7 square. Sew the newly sewn strip to the right side of the (1) Unit 4 square to make the middle row (Fig. 18).

16. Sew (1) 2” x 3 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of (1) Unit 8 square. Sew (1) Unit 9 square to each side of the newly sewn block to make the bottom row (Fig. 18).

17. Sew the (3) rows from Steps 13-16 together lengthwise to make (1) Block Two square (Fig. 18). Repeat to make (6) Block Two squares total.
