Point and shoot cameras have come along way in the past 10 years. There have been great innovations in size, picture quality, user interface, “intelligent” modes, etc.. The new PowerShot D10 is the most “adventurous” point and camera yet, its waterproof, shock resistant, and cold resistant upstanding temps from 14-104°F. Canon is also working on new focusing technology. Using infrared to track the eye in order to control the focus. We plan to take them on and go two steps further!

Video cameras have come along way as well. There have been great innovations in size, picture quality, user interface, “intelligent” modes, etc.. The Panasonic SDR-S100 uses Panasonic’s Quad-Density Pixel Distribution technology to convert the image signal. Providing four times the pixel density when recording still pictures, this lets the S150 capture a photo at 3.1-megapixels.

The new Kodak Zi8 Pocket Video can capture 4 different formats of video. And on top of that, it can capture stills at 5.3 megapixels. The quality of image ranges from 9 to 3 megapixels dependent on the camcorder brand and model.

- Canon Vixia, 8.59 Megapixels

- Sony HDR-SR11, 5.6 Megapixels

- Samsung HMX-H104, 4.7 Megapixels

Johnny is a 27 year old web designer. He’s on winter vacation with his girlfriend Liz and a few other mutual friends. He’s enjoying his trip but realizes that he really has no way of documenting the exciting parts of the trip, the actual skiing! It’s a hassle to stop or slow down to pull out a camera. Then to have to hold his poles and take the picture it’s just not worth it.

Being an web designer, Rick is most familiar with Flash and most of the Adobe Creative programs. He is pretty quick when it comes to new tech and gadgets.

Focusing Quadrants

Calibration PointGoggle lens

Focus function uses quadrants in relation to a calibration point(s) to find your focal gaze. The system would in turn focus on the object that took up the majority of the quadrant your eye is fixed on.

The shutter function would be controlled by an .7 second interruption of the infared signal. A simple wink would suffice. The camera would then capture the picture using the last known focal point.

Page 8: Snow & Water Sports

This concept can be applied to any of the goggles

The lens would be tied into a view sensor to interpret the visual data into digital data. Send data would be sent into the memory storage to be downloaded later. And the focus would be based off of calibration points in the glasses, depending on how far the eye gaze is from the calibration point(s).
