I. Introduction:

The future of India lives in its villages. India is not Calcutta or Bombay. India lives in her seven hundred thousand

villages` - Mahatma Gandhi.

True to the words of the Father of our Nation, the development of our country has to be assessed by the state of

the villages. 365 million people live there below poverty line, mostly illiterate and in low economic status

struggling to lead their daily life. Keeping villages the main focus, the World Community Service Centre strives

for a better world through its Village Service Project.

World Community Service Centre (WCSC) and JSW STEEL Ltd., Salem Works for implementation of Village

Service Project in M Kalipatti Village near Mecheri Taluk, Salem District.

II. About the Project:

Powered by the vision of guiding light, Vethathiri Maharishi, a sage who in his own lifetime rendered yeoman

service to bring about positive change at the personal level through his teachings, WCSC carries on his inspiring

legacy to bring about world peace. Today there are around 400 trusts and about 2023 sub centres registered and

affliated to WCSC. WCSC is a non religious, non-political and non profitable spiritual organisation spread across

India and other foreign countries like Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and USA.

WCSC through VSP project adopt a village and organize a Ten month capsuled program. Vethathiri Maharishi`s

SKY Yoga (Simplified Kundalini Yoga) taught by well trained and dedicated SKY yoga teachers (a male and a

female) who stay in the village and mingle with the people. In addition to the yoga teachings, various other

programmes like health camp, children skill development programs, counselling sessions, women empowerment

programs, de-addiction camp, Environment awareness, etc are also conducted by professionals bringing value

addition to the project.

III. Aim of the Project and Key Objectives:

In the Memorandam of Understanding it was agreed between WCSC and JSW STEEL Ltd., to implement

the following:

� To educate the rural people about their healthcare, sanitation, sustainable livelihoods,

� To improve lifestyle of village people by imparting awareness program.

� To improve physical, mental and social health of the village people.

� Training on mind management and stress management.

� Creating awareness to improve the quality of life among the rural youth.

� To achieve the holistic development by imparting awareness program on education, health,

skill development to women and youth and also on enviornment protection.

IV. About M Kalipatti village Status

CENSUS : The volunteers and the SKY Yoga professors went around the village and collected the

baseline data about the villagers.

M Kalipatti Village coming under Mecheri Taluk of Salem district which is the 147th Village of the VSP

project which got inaugurated and JSW Steel Ltd, Senior Vice President, by Thiru. B.N.S.Praksh Rao, and

Arulnidhi Padmashri Shri SKM. Maileanandam and other dignatories of M/S JSW STEEL Lts., and WCSC

members on 2nd January 2019.

VIII- PRE MEDICAL CAMP

A pre medical camp was conducted from 08.01.2019 to 09.01.2019. During this camp 176 people had

participated. Their Height, Weight, BP, Sugar and Cholestrol were checked and reports were taken by

the R & D department of WCSC, Aliyar.

These data were the basis for comparing the health status with the post medical tests taken a few days

before the conclusion of the VSP project.

Total Blood Sample Analyzed - 176

� In the Samples people with Diabetes, Cholesterol, Hypertension, Hypotension, Anemia, Obesity,

Over Weight and Under Weight were identified. As per Doctor’s advice suitable medications

were recommended.

� From the above statistics, it was observed that the health condition of the village people were in

alarming condition and maximum concentration was given to improve their health condition by

the way of various SKY Yoga practices.

� On 13.04.2019 Homeopathy Medical Camp was conducted by Dr.Ajithkumar BHMS In total

24 persons participated.

� On 27.04.2019 Homeopathy Medical Camp was conducted by Dr.Ajithkumar BHMS. In total

RE MEDICAL CAMP

� On 16.11.2019 post medical camp was conducted by the R & D department of WCSC, Aliyar.

During this camp 25 people participated.

ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS PROGRAMME

� On 05.02.2019 Environment Awareness Program was conducted by Mr. Duraiyan, Retd Forest

Officer and the Environment Awareness by way of improving cleanliness and Sanitation

was explained in detail to the villagers. The Villagers were advised not to use plastic since it

spoils the environment. 150 Tree saplings were given to the villagers.

Dustbin Drum Distribution Programme

• On 28.05.2019 dustbin drums distribution programme was conducted by Selam Zone

Secretary and 20 numbers of dustbin drums were given to the villagers.

COUNSILLING CAMP

� On 08.02.2019 Counseling was conducted by A.N. M.K. Janakiraman, 40 persons participated

in the counseling [Gents – 10 & Ladies – 30].

� On 08.03.2019 Counseling was conducted by A/N. M.K. Janakiraman. 35 persons participated





in the counseling [student – 42 Gents – 9 & Ladies – 9].



De-addiction Camp

• On 20.02.2019 De-addiction Camp was conducted by Dr.Jawahar and 24 persons [Gents – 18

& Ladies – 06] participated in the Camp.

• On 24.04.2019 De-addition Camp was conducted by Dr.Jawahar and 31 persons [Gents – 12

& Ladies – 19] participated in that program.

• On 21.05.2019 De-addiction Camp was conducted By Dr.Jawahar and 22 persons (Gents – 10

& Ladies – 12) participated in that program.

• On 20.06.2019 De-addiction Camp was conducted By Dr.Jawahar and 31 persons (Gents – 14

& Ladies – 17) participated in that program.

Nutrition and Diet

• On 11.05.2019 Nutrition and Diet Camp was conducted By. Mrs. Umarani, and 30 persons

(Gents – 7& Ladies – 23) participated in that program.

Wom en Empowerment Programme

Beautician Course was organized for the Ladies in M Kalipatti Village Conducted by

Mrs.Geetha 36 ladies participated in this class.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

• On 21.06.2019– INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY was celebrated in the Village by

SR. Prof. Uzhavan. M. Thangavelu. 120 STUDENTS & villagers participated in that

programme.

DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MEETING

On various dates of the project ie 02/02/2019,27/02/2019, 26/03/2019, 21/05/2019, 28/05/2019,

21/06/2016 development committee meetings were held by the members of the administrative

team, development team and the service team. Matters such as improvement of quality of the

SKY practice sessions, maintenance of documents and mobilizing the village people for SKY

practice classes were discussed in detail. The meetings were also attended by certain villagers.

FUTURE PLANS

The healthy and peaceful village of M.Kalipatti will be functioning as SKY meditation

centre under the guidance of Mecheri Amman MVKM Trust of Salem District. All the

Simplified Kundalini Yoga (SKY) practices will be done daily in this centre. This SKY

meditation centre will enable the villagers who have already learnt SKY yoga to practice

and also teach SKY yoga practices to the villagers who have not yet learned SKY

practices.
