☺☺☺ GGGGGGGGGGGGeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttttt WWWWWWWWWWWWeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllllllll ☺☺☺ We send our best wishes to Sam Wilson, Tori Wilson’s mum. Sam has just had an operation and we hope she is feeling better very soon. Also to Sharon Deeker, our Vet check assistant from our horse trials. Out and AboutOut and AboutOut and AboutOut and About
Not a lot to report on since our last newsletter,
there has not been a great deal of events in the
past few weeks that are within driving distance
for us all.
One major stand out was our very own Riley
Deeker-Fradd, who made the front page of the
Pony Club Association of Victoria (PCAV)
website. He was hidden in his Batman costume,
but some of us from around these parts do know
his true identity. Well done Riley, you put
Smythesdale PC on the map.

Report
Hope everyone is practicing their acts
for the Red Faces Competition on
Saturday night. If you haven’t thought
of anything yet don’t worry you can
probably join up with someone and create
something unique and fun on the day.
We will have a CD player available if you have
music to bring for your act. Don’t forget to get
Mum, Dad, brothers and sisters to come and join
in the fun!!!!!
See you there!!!
Please see the below letter and if you think you have a horse that fits the
request please follow up with Marianne Riddis. Thank-you Hi Marianne,
My dad, Art Nichols, told me you would look out for a horse for me. I really appreciate this.
I have had two horses in the past, my first horse died in May this year. My second horse died
in August, they
have both been older horses and I am now looking for a younger horse. I have had a horse for five
years, I'm not an experienced rider but then again I'm not a
beginner.
I was thinking of 8yo to 15yo, 15 to 16hh,
It does not really matter to me what type of horse it is as I will only be doing trail riding and jumping.
Also we do have a budget which is no larger
than $1,200.
Thanks heaps for this, I really appreciate it,
Kind regards, Grace Nichols

The following are some example of the gorgeous Artwork that was created at our recent working bee. Our jumps will look incredible when set up!!! Thank you to all of our talented and hard working members who created these pieces of artwork for our jumps.
Green, Purple and Orange Groups Following our meeting at the October rally Brett has
been talking with the instructors to work out the make up of the top three groups, so please keep an eye on which group you are in for this rally. As discussed at the meeting the instructors and Brett would work on evenly balanced groups with around 5 to 6 per group, and it might take a couple of rallies to get right. The other outcome from the meeting was our great dazzle boards which is just a bonus for everyone.

Training on the WYEC Grounds – Did you know you can access the centre without paying casual users fees and with PCAV insurance cover.? You need to be clear that you are training for a special purpose such as you need some extra help with your horse, or you need to work on a certain discipline or training for a ODE, a games event or event of some kind. The training needs to be with our permanent instructors Allison Hayes, Sue Bradley, Nick Benyon, or Sue Short. It can be at any time during the week or on weekends. Just make sure you check if any other core users are using the centre at the time. You can use sand, cross country and even our jumps if you are prepared to get them out and pack them up again.
Allison on 0400 446 363
Nick on 0416 387 408 Sue on 0439 428 769 Sue Short on 5341 2332 Talk directly to the Instructors to book in.
Thank you to the Morgan family for their recent
generous support of our gymkhana please tell your friends and family about their fencing business.
Don’t Forget our Rays Outdoor & Camping Discounts
Remember the discount with Rays available for SPC members. Just quote D77228 to get 22.5% discount on all Industrial work wear & footwear & 10% discount on all other items*. This offer applies to all Rays stores Australia wide. *Some exclusions apply.
We need some more First Aid volunteers The club is on the hunt for some more parents who may have level 2 First Aid certificates. We need some more numbers in the team so that you all only need to do it at a few rallies each year.
Please pop up your hand if you can help with this one, you can see Julie Lodge or Shane if you can help out. Thank-you.
WYEC CASUAL USER FEES
At the recent WYEC meeting a motion was put forward to reduce the casual user’s fee for the core user groups of the centre. The WYEC committee, which includes members from Rokewood PC, Adult Riders and Smythesdale PC along with the WYEC management group voted unanimously to reduce the casual user fees for the core groups of the centre. The new User fees for the core user groups (which includes SPC) is as follows which now revolves around families. 12 month casual user – Family $70 6 month casual user – Family $50 1 month casual user – Family $30 Day casual user – same as one month. Guest pass - $10 per rider per day Included in the restructuring is that you may bring a friend to ride (if you have the casual user membership) for $10 per rider per day For further information call Liz Sayers (the booking Officer) on 0408585919
President’s Spiel Hello all pony clubbers,
Please don’t forget our November Rally camp
coming up this weekend, 14th and 15
th November. We
have got some great things planned out for the two
days, hopefully the weather will be slightly cooler
than the weekend just gone, if things are going to be
too hot we will look to adjust our plans to suit the
heat, and even look at an early start for the Sunday.
Well done to Batman (AKA Riley Deeker-Fradd) for
making front page of the PCAV website, that’s a
great effort, great picture from our recent gymkhana.
Our dazzle board working bee was just the best effort
by so many people and the results are just amazing.
The designs and efforts by so many people to end up
with what we did at the end of the day is not just an
amazing effort, it shows the friendship, support and
willingness of so many members in our club. Clearly,
the idea of lessons was a winner, only problem being
that we ended up with around 20 something kids
saddled up for the lessons. We are sorry to poor Sue
Short and all the kids for having such a large group,
but all went well, and some fun was had in the water.
The BBQ and evening trail ride were about perfect.
Thank-you everyone who helped on the days leading
up, on the morning and then all Saturday afternoon,
you all deserve a medal and pat on the back, you
made it so easy for the one’s organizing the day. Just
for the record, we had 48 people sign in and do work
on the day, and we couldn’t have done it without all
our wonderful riding members who painted and
painted all day.
We would like to welcome and thank Roz Lonie who
has taken on the important role of Club Secretary.
Please everyone give her all the support you can, she
has previous experience on committee’s and brings
new ideas with her from pony club involvement in
NSW. Thanks Roz from everyone.
We also have two other members looking at joining
the committee, both are great helpers around the club
and offer a lot to our committee and club and can
only help improve the management of our club.
We look forward to our camp next weekend and are
all hoping for perfect weather. Remember to practice
hard for the red faces competition (Kids and mums
and dads) Thanks again for another great month.
Cheers
Shane
From your District
Commissioner Hi every one its that time again PONY CLUB
DAY yep that’s right it’s here again, that day
that we all look forward to. I know I can’t, I
hope you guys are as excited as me. It’s the
camp this rally and I hope you are all going to be
there to enjoy and have heaps of fun over the
whole weekend. It will be starting on Saturday
afternoon and if it stays this warm we will all be
spending a lot of time in the water jump but
minus the horses so every one bring your hot
weather gear.
I would like to thank everyone who turned up at
the working bee it was a great day and everyone
who came had a great day and the dazzle boards
are amazing you guys can be really proud of
what you accomplished on the day. A special
mention to Shane who organized the boards and
paint as well as getting the hangers made up at
such short notice well done Shane it was a
brilliant job. I would also like to thank Sue Short
for taking the time to run a couple of lessons it
was greatly appreciated by all who took part,
myself included, and I am sure there were a few
of you having a good laugh at my expense when
I was trying to jump the zig zag and also at the
water jump, where I am sure you all hoped that I
would be the one swimming, HA HA HA maybe
next time. But never having done anything like it
before I had a great time so thanks for letting me
join in.
On a serious note with the warmer weather there
are bound to be snakes around and whilst WYEC
keeps the grounds in good nick with the grass
reasonably short they are still bound to be
around. So please be watchful and wear
appropriate footwear and if you see one stay well
away from it and let someone on the committee
know so we can let everybody know its there and
to stay away from that area. The last thing we
want is to be treating someone for snake bite as it
is a horrible experience for all involved
especially the victim. Sorry for the serious note
but it is a very real threat to all involved at the
club.
Any way I hope to see you all there as we have a
pretty cool weekend teed up for you all with lots
of fun things on Saturday afternoon and evening
and a pretty cool rally for Sunday. Look forward
to seeing you all
Cheers Brett
