We offersmokers the support they need to succeed.In fact, 90% of callers say that they wouldrecommend the Smokers’ Helpline to familyand friends.

What to expect when you call You’ll speak one-to-one with a quit coachwho can answer your questions about quittingor anything else smoking related. They canoffer advice on how to quit and help youcome up with a personal quit plan, includingfollowup calls, if you are ready. Or they canjust listen if you need to talk about smoking.Also, our quit coaches can send you freebooklets and point you to local resources togive you even more help on your journey tobecome smoke free.

Help online: smokershelpline.ca Get free 24/7 access to a supportivecommunity and self-help program. Monitoryour progress with your Quit Meter and readinspiring stories about people who haveovercome obstacles as they quit. You can alsocompare your smoking to others, get tips tocope with cravings, keep an online diary anddownload self-help guides. Like our telephoneservice, it’s all free.

One Step at a Time materialsQuitting smoking doesn’t happen in one step.It’s a process that happens in stages. Smokers,their friends and family are all individuals withunique needs.

There are three guides in our program. All arereviewed by independent experts and arebased on the best and most current scienceabout quitting smoking. They arealso completely free of charge.

Help a smoker quit Supporting someone during thequit process is not easy. Oftena big challenge is to learn howto offer encouragementwithout becoming a ‘nag’.

For smokers who don’t want to quit This booklet is a “no stringsattached” guide for smokerswho are not yet thinking aboutquitting. It helps smokersunderstand their addiction and how smoking affects thepeople around them. Thebooklet is not a lecture,does not apply pressureto quit and avoidsjudgement.

For smokers who want to quit This booklet provides supportto help smokers better understandtheir addiction so they cantake action to meet theirown quitting goals. It alsoincludes advice to helpsmokers cope with thequitting process.

Research has found that people whouse and follow this booklet are more likelyto be successful in quitting smoking thanthose who try to quit on their own.
