Our belief is that a full and active outdoor lifestyle leads to healthy, happy and productive people. SPRING 2016 v Weekly Ski and Snowboarding: We’ll

be heading up to Berkshire East Ski Area (aka The Beast) every Thursday for a 6-9pm night ski session. Tickets are $17, rentals $17 and lessons start at $10/person!! Meet at Sage hall at 4:30pm. Arrive early to get a seat in van. No pre-registration.

v February 6, 13 & March 5 Snowshoe Trips! – Explore New England’s forests on snowshoes. We’ll go snowshoeing around some beautiful hills and forests just a ½ hour away. We’ll leave Boathouse at 11 a.m. and return by 2 or 3 pm

v January 30 & February 7- Cross

Country Ski trips: Experience New Enlgand at a Cross country skiers pace. Includes a lesson then fun trail tour. We’ll leave Boathouse at 11 a.m. and return by 2/3 pm

v Winter Camping Overnights- Head out

into the snowy hills for an introduction to winter camping! If you’ve never been, camping in winter is a really amazing and special experience. We’ll supply warm winter sleeping bags and other snow gear such as snowshoes or xc skis. Feb 11-12-Intro trip to Macleish Field Station Feb 20-21: Catamount trail xc ski trip, VT

Smith Outdoors Trips

TRIP SCHEDULE v Special Events:

March 6 Indoor climbing competition: 1-4pm, Free-all abilities welcome. April 16: Five College Outdoor Festival: Held at Hampshire college there will be outdoor events and trips sponsored all day!

v Ice Skating trips-February 14 & February 28: Join us for an afternoon of indoor skating at a local rink. Rink fee is $5, rentals are also $5. 12-4pm (1-3pm skate)

v Tuesday Adventure Day Resumes! Every Tuesday in April 4-6pm we lead local biking, canoeing and other fun trips in the local area-Leaving from Boathouse-no registration.

v April 3 & 9- Whitewater Rafting & April 10 kayaking- Like waves and water? Beautiful scenery, lots of fun and lunch too! All gear provided. Free. 9-4pm Boathouse

v Local Rock Climbing: April 17 & 23- Let the snow melt! Climb some local rock! 9-4pm, all abilities welcome.

CLIMBING WALL HOURS:

Tues/Thurs 4-6pm,Wed. 7-9pm, Friday 3-6pm, Saturday/Sunday 1-4pm

Belay clinics & Testing: Tues. 4-6pm & Friday 3-6pm Check out the Climbing wall in the Ainsworth Gym Fitness Studio! Shoes and harnesses are available for free. Climbers must pass a belay test to use the ropes on their own. Don’t know how to climb or just want to try it? No problem! Come to an open clinic hour and we’ll teach you. *Guests welcome

OPEN BOATHOUSE HOURS: M-F 1-5 pm. Sat & Sun 1-5 pm

The Paradise Pond Boathouse will be open to the Smith College community September, & October, then again after Spring break. No experience is required (just an ID) to use a kayak, canoe or SUP (standup paddle board). Basic instruction provided. *On campus use only/Guests welcome

GEAR ROOM HOURS Open hours: Tues: 2-4 & Wed 12-2 & Friday 1-3pm *Membership cost is per semester or academic year:

Students: $15/semester or $20 for academic year Faculty/Staff: $25/semester or $40 for academic year

($10 one-time trial offer available) By joining the Gear Rental Program you can have unlimited use of the Outdoor Program equipment for personal trips! Whether you’re going out for an afternoon, planning an overnight with a friend or have a field trip for a class, you can now check-out a variety of camping equipment. Located in the Paradise Pond Boathouse, we have climbing gear, sleeping bags, backpacks, snowshoes, xc skis, rollerblades, Mtn bikes, guidebooks, maps, advice and more! E M A I L
