WELCOME TO A SMARTER YU
Your new Smart Energy Display allows you to see the impact of any changes you make to help you become more energy efficient and save money.
If you have a prepayment meter, you’ll also be able to see how much credit you have available, so you always know when to top up.
This handy guide helps you to use your Smart Energy Display. It’s really easy to get started so you can see your energy usage right away.
Congratulations, you’ve chosen to take control of your business energy by using a new Smart Meter and Smart Energy Display. You can use these to see when and how you use energy in your business along with keeping track of how much you’re spending.
Please read the Safety Notice on page 15 of this leaflet before getting started.

HOME - Go to the home screen
NOW - See the electricity/gas you’re using right now
FUEL - Select gas or electricity and see your energy use by fuel type or the combined total
CALENDAR - You can choose to see your used energy by either: so far today, this week, this month or this year. Use the arrows to go back through your usage history.
MENU/OK - Use to access the settings such as budget, language, screen brightness. Pressing the button again also selects an option.
ARROWS - Use the arrows to scroll through the options. Press OK to select an option.
Use the touch buttons to control your Smart Energy Display and find out how and when you’re using energy in your business.
GETTING HELP
Your Smart Energy Display has a built-in tutorial to show you how it works. Press MENU/OK, then use the right arrow to go to ‘Tutorial’ and then press MENU/OK.
SEE YOUR ELECTRICITY/GAS INSTANTLY
The Energy Usage Dial lets you instantly see if your electricity/gas usage is low, medium or high.
You can view this as electricity/gas used, either: right now, so far today, this week, this month or this year.
AMBIENT INDICATOR
The coloured lights at the bottom of the display show your energy use right now, either as low (green), medium (orange) or high (red).
GETTING SMARTER THE MORE YOU USE IT
Your Smart Meter Display will initially compare your energy use against a medium-sized business. However, it will ‘learn’ your typical usage over time and adjust to reflect low, medium and high use for your individual business.

LEARN WHERE YOU CAN SAVE MONEY
Your Smart Energy Display can help you understand how, when and where your business uses energy. You can then make informed choices about how to be more energy efficient and save money.
As your Smart Energy Display has an in-built rechargeable battery and connects wirelessly to your Smart Meter, you can walk around your premises and investigate what your appliances cost to run and where you can make savings.
Press the NOW button to see your instant energy use. Turn each appliance on and off and see how your costs change. You can determine approximately how much energy each appliance uses.

SETTING YOUR BUDGET
Use the arrows to set your budget.
You can experiment with the time period of your budget. If you set a monthly budget, see what that means to your daily cost and what your annual savings could be.
You can now easily keep track of your budget by checking the Energy Usage Dial on your Home screen. You will hear an alarm when you exceed your budget. You can turn this on or off in the Settings menu.
Change your fuel type and preferred time period (day / week / month) and view your budget in pounds and pence.
Press MENU/OK, go to Settings & select ‘Set Budget’ then press MENU/OK
You can set a budget to help you stay on track with how much you spend on your energy.

SMART PAY AS YOU GO
• See your available credit in pounds and pence
• Add credit directly to your pre-payment meter
• Receive an alert when your credit is low
• Apply emergency credit (please ask us if this is available)
• View your top-up payment history
• Reconnect your electricity supply if you have been cut off
If you are on a pre-payment energy plan you can use the extra Smart pre-payment features of your Smart Energy Display:
HOW MUCH CREDIT DO I HAVE LEFT?
To view your available credit at any time, press the HOME button. This will show you the balance on your meter. If you have both gas and electricity meters, you will see the meter with the lowest balance.
To activate your Emergency Credit, press the MENU/OK button then scroll through to ‘Emergency Credit’ and press OK. Your Smart Energy Display will show as ‘Emergency Credit Selected’.

Warning - low credit
Your Smart Energy Display will remind you to top-up when your balance is running low. An alert will sound and the ‘low credit’ symbol will appear on your display.
Emergency Credit
If you have an Emergency Credit service with your pre-payment meter, your Smart Energy Display will let you know when emergency credit is available.
SMART TIP!Our advice is to only use your Emergency Credit as a last resort if you can’t top up straight away.
You can track the remaining meter balance again on the HOME screen.
If you use all of your available credit, your supply may be cut off. Once you have topped up your credit you can reconnect your energy supply from your Smart Energy Display. From the HOME screen, scroll through to ‘Enable Electricity/Gas Supply’ and press OK. Use the arrows to select ‘Yes’ and press OK.

YOUR TOP UP HISTORY
You can view your last five top ups for reference. From the HOME screen, use arrows to scroll to Account Information and press MENU/OK. Then select Previous Top-Ups.
Press HOME to exit and return to the HOME screen.

If you aren’t able to top-up using your pre-payment meter, you can top-up your meter directly from your Smart Energy Display. You will need the top-up code from your top-up receipt.
Choose your fuel type
Press MENU/OK then use the right arrow to across to ‘Top-Up Account’ and press MENU/OK.
You will receive confirmation that the code has been accepted or rejected. Once accepted you will see the top-up amount displayed in the centre of your Smart Energy Display.

Use the left arrow to go back one digit if you need to change it, when you are finished press OK and submit the code

CUSTOMISING YOUR SMART ENERGY DISPLAYIt’s easy to customise your Smart Energy Display. Press MENU/OK and toggle to Settings. You can choose to customise any of the following options:
SET BUDGET - See the Setting Your Budget section on page 9
SCREEN BRIGHTNESS - Adjust lower or higher
NIGHT MODE - The device dims between midnight and 7am, you can turn this on or off depending on your business hours
KEY TONES - Turn on or off
LOW CREDIT ALERT - Turn on or off (for pre-payment customers only)
BUDGET ALERT - Turn on or off
LANGUAGE - Choose English or Welsh
CLEAR SETTINGS - Clears all settings
ACCESS ACCOUNT INFORMATION - Press MENU/OK > Settings > Account

SAFETY NOTICE
• Your Smart Energy Display is designed for indoor use in dry environments. Don’t expose the device to excessive moisture. Disconnect before cleaning and don’t immerse in water or other liquids. Use a soft dry cloth to clean the display. If the display does get wet, turn it off, disconnect it and dry it out completely before switching back on.
• Avoid dropping, excessive shock or vibration
• To protect the environment, please don’t dispose of this product in your waste at the end of its life. Please take it to a recycling centre for disposal.
• Don’t attempt to open, repair or service any part of your Smart Meter Display yourself. If the device appears to be faulty please contact us.
• This display contains a lithium ion battery. Don’t dispose of it in a fire, expose it to excessive heat or attempt to puncture it.
Please read these safety precautions before you use your Smart Meter Display. Keep this guide handy in case you need to refer to this information again.
• Don’t use a visibly damaged power adaptor or power lead. Use only the power adaptor supplied to you with this product.
• This product complies with RoHS regulations.
