Sustainable Habitat Cluster- Cooperation network

Habitat Cluster– A network for the Habitat value chain:

Raw materials | materials & products | Construction | Equipments | Urban regeneration

Create synergies for new products, technologies and rehabilitation construction systems, from a

new practical concept of surrounding spaces, inducing an innovative attitude through

sustainability by creating added competitiveness.

The cluster bet on Sustainability as a active driving force for its development. So the name

“Sustainable Habitat” cluster

Value in the national market the development of materials, solutions and technologies for a

sustainable construction, specially in the conservation and regeneration of the build heritage,

that extends also to the new construction in the international markets.

In both markets, the importance of sustainability can build an distinctive element, creating

competitiveness for the cluster members.

The Sustainable Construction Platform is an non-profit organisation and the

Cluster management organization having today 132 members:

Sustainable Habitat Cluster – Action Plan 2009/2013

Complementary Projects are all those led by companies and other entities related

to the Collective Strategy of the cluster;

Innovation Projects proposed and led by companies to the national funding system

were fitted to the cluster collective strategy, grouping them in the following pre-

defined areas:

Development of materials and products for a sustainable construction,

Technologies and systems for a sustainable construction or conservation,

Energy and environment performance of the built environment,

Efficient use of natural resources,

Sustainable construction economy and management. 7

Sustainable Habitat Cluster - Strategy 2014-2020

In addition to the innovation projects, other approaches to internationalization are a

test opportunity for the Habitat Cluster integrated solutions based on sustainability;

The adaptation to the new context imposed by European directives such as the EPBD

or the new CPER, drive operations for all the value chain guided by sustainability

(such as the induced by the efficient use of resources);

Interesting challenges, in terms of sustainable products and architectural solutions,

can be introduced in the construction of cities in the global markets by members of

this cluster .

As an example, …, there was in 2014 a project to support the Habitat Cluster initiatives:

“SUSTAINABLE HABITAT CLUSTER INTERNATIONALIZATION”

Involving action lines:

a) Animation of working groups focused on internationalization and business

opportunities, oriented to high-potential niches in foreign markets;

b) Aggregation of the cluster skills for the proposal of products and services;

c) Consortia for goods and services in the international market;

d) Articulation of actions with other clusters (Smart Cities and other).
