Purpose of the SBIR / STTR Programs

USAMRAA 6

• Stimulate technological innovation

• Use small business to meet Federal R&D needs

• Encourage participation by socio & economically disadvantaged persons in technological innovation

• Funds cooperative R&D between small businesses and research institutions

Eligibility RequirementsSBIR

• Organized for-profit U.S. business, located in the U.S.

• At least 51% U.S.- owned by individuals & independently operated

• 500 or fewer employees

• PI’s primary employment with small business during project

• Formal Cooperative R&D Effort

• Minimum 40% by small business, 30% by U.S. research institution

• Small business is Prime, PI can be from SBC or research Institution

Program Area Directorate/Joint Program Committee R&D FocusCombat Casualty Care Research Program (CCCRP) Seeks to save lives and heal wounds resulting from battlefield trauma.

Clinical & Rehabilitative Medicine Research Program (CRMRP) Seeks to provide definitive and rehabilitative care innovations required to reset wounded warriors, both in terms of duty performance and quality of life.

Military Infectious Diseases Research Program (MIDRP)

Aims to accelerate the fielding of effective and improved means of protection and treatment for infectious diseases to maintain maximal global operational capability with minimal morbidity and mortality. The Force Health Protection mission of MIDRP addresses naturally occurring, known and emerging endemic pathogens.

Military Operation Medicine Research Program (MOMRP)

Aims to develop effective countermeasures against stressors and to maximize health, performance, and fitness of service members at home and on the battlefield. The MOMRP funds biomedical research to deliver products and solutions to Service members that address health and fitness throughout the deployment cycle.

Medical Simulation & Information Sciences (MSIS)

Seeks to increase patient safety, effectiveness, and quality of care through simulation-based technologies/systems, healthcare related information technologies for earlier delivery of capabilities to address gaps, and to reduce program risks for operational systems.
