Intravital imaging. (A) P22 rat sarcoma growing in a dorsal skin flap window chamber. Image was obtained using multiphoton fluorecence microscopy following i.v. administration of 70 kDa FITC-dextran. High spatial resolution is obtained and repeat imaging is possible. (B) Fluorescently labelled leukocytes can be used to assess rolling, adhesions and transmigration in post-capillary venules for the mouse cremaster muscle.
Bruker 7 Tesla, 310mm Bore MRI with Oxford Instruments HyperSense DNP Polariser.• Non-invasive anatomical scans• Cardiac scans• Tumour development• Perfusion, oxygenation and metabolism• Neurological imaging
Tumour metabolism. (A) 1H anatomical image of rat tumour. ( B ) T u m o u r u p t a k e o f hyperpolarised 13C-labelled pyruvate. (C) Tumour signals for pyruvate and lactate over time, which can be ana lysed to calculate rate constants.

Trafficking of S. pneumoniae. (A ) Mice instilled with bioluminescent S. pneumoniae. Images show persistence of bacteria of the WT mice and shows how
changes in bacterial burden can be followed in real time. (B) higher bacterial numbers in the blood (CFU/ml).
