Financing and co-financing of forestry from the national budget

• Budget covers all expenses for the operation of public forestry services

• Public forestry service provides forest owners with all necessary knowledge, advice and free management plans

• Budget co-finances forestry measures such as regeneration, tending, forest protection, road maintenance etc.

The Forestry Act – 1993National Forestry Development

Programme -1996Private forest owners are limited in exploitation

of their forests by strict managementregulations:

• free public access to all forests (recreation, mushroom and berry picking, hunting etc.)

• no fencing to protect the property is allowed,• harvesting according to management plans,• no clearfelling,• obligatory individual tree marking with forestry

expert.

Forest management in Slovenia

The potential felling in forest managementplans 2001 – 2010 has been set at the level of:

• 61 % of the total increment• 15 % of the growing stock• = 4,1 mil. m3 (gross volume)
