FUN

I couldn’t help myself. I was born a gamer, will always be a gamer!

Page 6: Sl alternative assignment

A THOUGHT WHILE HAVING FUN These games are actually hard to learn. Wouldn’t this be a

great exercise and lesson in effective communication to have somebody “train” somebody else how to play these?

MACHINIMA CITY

Had no idea what I would find in here but was pleasantly surprised.

INSIDE THE GENERAL MERCANTILE Whenever you find objects like these, click on them. This

one took me to a video of a holocaust survivor speaking to a live class in Second Life. Amazing!!!

HOW DOES IT HELP While some of the resources and locations on this island

are topic specific and may not be related to any of us, they show us what the possibilities are using virtual environments regardless of subject matter.

How would you structure activities as an educator?Content? Communication?

Ignore whether the subject matter is what YOU teach

Does this technology have educational value?

Imagine that the subject matter was yours, can you see students

engaging with this?

Find buildings, screens, signs, people, and objects on the island

Interact with them Go to their linked locations (usually web pages or YouTube videos)

LOCATION I also have this landmarked in my favorites and can share

with you next time I see you in SL.
