    OWS Solar Arrays are not fully deployed (OWSSolar Arrays putting out some power, however}.Launch slipped to 11 a. m., EDT, Sunday, May 2with a 10 minute window. Will spend time untilthen "developing a flight plan that will maximizescientific return. "

    Electrical power cut in half by OWS Solar Arraymalfunction. Decision made to connect powerfrom command and service modules (for as longas cryogenics will last) to OWS. This will meana reduced mission, perhaps 17 to 21 days, andreduced amount of experiments. Orders issuedto increase cryogenic load (at I_C). No deeisi,_mat this time concerning which experiments willbe eliminated. Plans for the other 2 Skylab missions are in state of flux. Still have a problemwith one gyro.

    4:00 p.m. Activities concentrated on developing two morethermal shields:

    (1) A parasol using an automatic umbrella-like mechanism that will be pushed outthrough the scientific airlock and spreadout over the workshop.

    (2) An inflatable life-raft type also deployed

    The astronauts continued practicing methods ofdeploying other thermal shields already developedNo decision yet on which method will definitely bused.

    A tool has been selected for trying to free onesolar panel that is partially extended.

    Temperatures dropped in the coolant systemsthat supply a coolant to the EVA suits and to theairlock module.

    Changing the angle of the spacecraft to the s_m has been necessary in order to keep that system

    from freezing.Plans to deploy a "sail-like" sun shield from astand-up EVA out of the CSM has been eliminated.

    Currently, the two preferred procedures entail:(1) Deploying an "umbrella-tjpe" shield

    through the scientific airlock,

    (2) Deploying a "sail-like" shield throughthe ATM h_.*rh_

    1:00 p.m. The astronauts continue rehearsing deploymenttechniques and reviewing revised flight schedulc,._.

    5:30 p.m. Change of Shift Briefing at Johnson Space Center,Milton Windler, Flight Director; Craig Staresinich,Electrical General Instrumentation and FlightSupport Systems Engineer for the Skylab Workshop.Temperatures inside the workshop have increasedto 125 - 129 F, as a result of maneuvering Skylatoward the sun.
