INTRODUCTION

Sky Bus metroMoves people and cargo too!At 100 kmph along existing roadsAesthetically, without demanding road space!Better performance than underground metroAt one-fourth cost & up and ready in two yearsFuturistic automated driver less

Elevated railway Technically cannot reach truly congested central busy roads where the mass transport is neededUnderground Railway Less invasive on surface but still poses technically challenging risks of fires and evacuationsHas to address concerns for foundations of heritage buildingsModes of Transport

Surface railway2000 persons die annuallyImpossible to lay in an existing cityProvisions of level crossings that are to be provided becomes difficult.5Why sky bus saves 50% to 75% in costsConventional railways provide heavy steel to protect people from capsizing, derailments, with total wt. of 48T a railway can carry only 70 persons in 20 m length.Skybus has no derailments etc, hence use very light wt coaches and carries more people using much less dead wtwith total wt. of 48T a railway can carry only 70 persons in 20 m length.Skybus with same wt and length carries 300 passengers comfortablySo skybus requires only 50 mts long stations to serve 900 passengers every 40 sec while existing metro system needs 200m ,90 secDescription OF SKY BUS:

Heavy 52-60 kg /m rails placed at standard gauge floating in elastic medium and damped by inertia

Mass held in a 9.4 m X 2.4m box enclosure, supported over a 1m dia columns

Columns spaced at 15 m distance from each other, in the divider space in between lanes on a road- way

At a height of 8.9m above road surface

Can run at 100 kmph, with the coach shells suspended below .

The components of SKY BUS The major components of a sky bus metro are:1 Sky way 2 Sky bogies3 Sky coaches 4 Sky stations 5 Traverse arrangements at terminals

Sky Way Pile foundations support 1 m diameter column 8m high, and space at 15 m all along the roadway Two rails fixed with appropriate fastenings within the concrete box support and guide the sky bogie. There are no points & crossings

Design loads

Max axle load: 12 t

Total for a bogie: 24 t 2) Sky Bogies Standard two axle bogies of standard gauge used in metros for speeds of 100 km/h are used (but can have higher speeds, if required up to 160 km/h)- of standard gauge 3) Sky Coaches Double walled light shells with wide large windows are suspended from the sky bogies

Controlled banking on curves- even 100m radius curves can be handled.

Air-conditioned and with automatic doors.

Audio visual information to passengers.

Special 4m wide sliding doors for quick entry and exit of passengers.

Each pair carries 300 persons and services every one-minute or 30 seconds is possible

4) Sky Stations Unlike conventional mass transit systems, Sky Bus needs smaller stations

Service is every 30 seconds or 1 minute that is virtually no waiting time for passengers

Totally automated without drivers or guards-and access control is also electronic by prepaid cards being swiped in

Stations act as only access facility, and not as passenger holding area

5) Traverser Arrangements at Terminals

There are no points and crossingsAutomatically shifts the sky bus units for balancing the loads/ changing routes too as well as shift units to depot lines etc.

11Worlds First test track at Goa proves our Indias Skybus is superior to other metro rails ( A freak accident in an experimental trial demonstrated conclusively the stated safety features unique to the Skybus)

Independent RDSO ( Ministry of Railways) team and Bhaba AtomicResearch Centre measured the values Since Ministry of Railways classified Skybus as NOT Railway,State has to notify authority under the Tramway Act 18xx,(existing),For issue of safety certificate, by a Government Safety Commissioner.Implementation of Sky BusAhmedabadBangloreChennaiCoimbatoreDelhiGoaGurgaonHyderabadKochiKolkataLucknowMumbaiPondicherryPuneRanchiShimlaThanePROPOSALS FOR ESTABLISHING SKY BUS

Advantages

Fast TransportationNo demolition Fire Protection Deep Penetration No Deaths Low Capital cost No interference with normal road trafficCapacityLuxury No Pollution No traffic Jams Low Travel cost Fast ExecutionEasy Access Comfort

Conclusion:

Redefines the urban mass transport for cities Provides efficient auto-mated container delivery system point to point, following existing roads

Brings down the cost of service while improving quality. With land being at premium, even for intra-city high speed 200 kmph system

Alternative for mass transport- being derailment free and safer than existing rail-based system.References:
