Letter From the Head SkirtSexy by Accident

There is a very fine line between sexy and sex. In the design process, if you go too far over that line, your intention will have an entirely different effect. I asked a number of women this question, “What does the word sexy mean to you?”

“It’s a power from the inside that manifests itself on the outside.”“When I feel sexy, I have a different swing to my stride.”“As I get older, the word sexy becomes more important to me.” (62 year old)

It’s a word that every woman is drawn to. It conjures up confidence, mystery, attraction. It smolders, entrances, attracts. It emanates. The less you care, the more you have it.

As the Spring 2011 line came into place, I realized that I was creating an incredibly sexy line of fitness clothing, entirely by accident. It’s still bold and beautiful like every Skirt Sports line that has come before. The difference is in its subtlety. Instead of screaming, “I want to feel sexy!” it whispers, “I’m sexy without even trying.”
