Summary of Internship
General Position Summary:The Project Engineer Intern assists and supports the Project Manager, Superintendent and Project Engineer on assigned construction projects with a wide range of duties. The position works under direct supervision, performs routine daily administrative activities and gathers and distributes information. The Project Engineer intern must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as have strong communication and organizational skills.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:− Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals − Initiate, prepare, review, track and distribute RFIs − Assist in management of project permit process− Assist in preparations of bid packages and procurement− Track and inspect material deliveries − Assist in preparation of monthly owner project status reports, as required − Attend project meetings and record meeting minutes − Assist in project close-out − Communicate and enforce Skanska Safety and Health Management Program − Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through own actions and
mentoring others
Job Skills & Abilities Guidelines:− Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products− Broad understanding of Construction industry− Strong written and verbal communication skills− Basic math/accounting skills− Functions effectively as part of a team− Dependability− Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times− Ability to understand and follow directions− Good time management skills and organizational skills− Ability to read drawings and specifications
Process to Apply for Skanska Scholarship
− Send application and transcript to Skanska; deadline is November 1 with an award date of November 15.
− Finalists will attend an interview session with representatives of Skanska USA Building Inc. and University of Portland faculty for final determination of scholarship award.
− Scholarships are given on a one time basis and are not renewable.
− Scholarship winners will be offered a summer internship with Skanska USA Building Inc.
− Scholarship funds will be paid to the university, on the student’s behalf, upon award.
